Everything is not well with the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). Stating that the records of outstanding bills towards shopkeepers in Palika Bhawan and RK Puram showed "a rather sordid and contaminated state of affairs at the NDMC", the Central Information Commission (CIC) has summoned records from the civic body. The transparency watchdog has said that the civic body, which is responsible to maintain the Lutyen's Delhi, is attempting to hide the information by denying the same under the clause of the Right to Information Act (RTI). RTI, however, does not cover the information related to commercial confidence, trade secrets or intellectual property, unless it involves larger public interest.
