Sensex down 416.46 pts 26.1.2020 Central Chronicle
Mumbai, The benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Monday tumbled down by 416.46 points to settle at 41,528.91 on profit booking by local opertors at higher level amid weak European cues. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) too fell by 121.60 points to 12,230.75. The Nifty registered days high and low at 12,430.50 and 12,216.90 points respectively. The Sensex opened on a strong note at 42,263, jumping by 318 points. It was at 42,273.87 pts, day high, up by 328 points. Later, it nosedived nearly 442 points to 41,503.37 day low before closing at 41,528.91, down by 416.46 points from its last close. The sectoral indices like Energy, Finance, IT, Auto, Bankex, Oil and Gas and Technology dragged the market. In scrips, Kotak Bank, Reliance Indistries, ONGC, TCS and NTPC declined during the day. The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index fell 0.57 pc while the S&P BSE Small-Cap index lost 0.39 pc. The market breadth was weak. On the BSE, 954 shares rose and 1575 shares fell. US Supplying Petro Oil 26.1.2020 Central Chronicle
India the second biggest purchaser of petro crude from Iran has stopped buying it under the imposition of U.S. sanctions against it. The US Secretary of State Mr Mike Pompeo, who is on official visit to India has said that US has realized the difficulty of India and supplying the petroleum product by itself to meet the requirement of India. The US sanctions on Iran have become effective from November 4th 2012. Since then the India purchased the petro oil from America between November 2018 to May 2019, nearly 1,84,000 barrels per day. Last year the supply was 40,000 barrels per day. It is enhanced by 1,44,000 barrel per day. There is no oil crisis or shortage of petrol oils in India as US has stepped in to become alternate supplier of petro crude. Mumbai, The benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Monday crashed by 611 points to 35,061.36 in opening trade as heavy sell off witnessed across the board.Weak Rupee and rising crude oil price amid escalation in US-China trade tensions too impacted the same. The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too slid by 170.05 points to 10,514.65. The sensex registered intra day high and low at 36,246.97 and 35,016.08 points. The Nifty recorded intra day high and low at 10,558.85 and 10,486. The sectoral indices like Energy, FMCG, Finance, Industrials, Bankex and Capital Goods stocks pushed the equity market low in early trade. Wholesale Inflation 26.1.2020 Central Chronicle
In a severe jerk to the Indian economy the wholesale inflation has rose to 5.77 per cent in the last month of June. It is highest since December 2013. The official data revealed that large part of it driven by the almost constantly rising prices of fuel-mainly the petrol, diesel, natural gas, L.P.G and power rates. While wholesale prices on primary articles components of the index rose to 5.3 per cent in June from 2.16 per cent in May. This was not due to food price inflation which rose marginally to 1.8 per cent from 1.6 per cent over the same period. The real push upwards in wholesale inflation came from the crude petroleum- petrol, diesel, natural gas segments. The inflation surged to 48.7 per cent in June from 26.9 per cent in May.
