The Dindoshi Sessions Court on Monday sentenced two auto-rickshaw drivers to seven years of rigorous imprisonment, who were held guilty for attempting to commit rape on an 18-year-old student from Holland, who had come to Mumbai on a student exchange programme in 2011. The prosecution had examined a total of 24 witnesses in the case. All of them had supported the prosecution. The Bihar police on Saturday evening, while conducting simultaneous raids in the jails of the state, recovered two chits with names and phone numbers from incarcerated the main accused in the Muzaffarpur shelter home case, Brajesh Thakur. The raids were being conducted ahead of Independence Day celebrations, in which several banned items have been seized from prisoners.
