Railways to prepare blueprint to stop harassment of field staffers 24.4.2018 General News
The railways has asked its zonal offices to prepare a blueprint to ensure that field staffers such as trackmen, gangmen and section officers are not harassed for delays in maintenance work. The decision was taken after the Commissioner of Railway Safety (Northern Zone), in his final report on the August 19, 2017 derailment of the Puri-Haridwar Utkal Express, suggested that the railways should device a mechanism through which it can stop harassment and the ensuing blame game as it affects morale and above everything else takes away the decision-making ability of the field staff. Highlighting the section on the field staff in the report, Chairman of the Railway Board Ahwani Lohani said, "This is more relevant. In addition, we need to ensourage our staff to take proactive steps to obviate the unsafe condition." Noida: Woman's body found in bag 24.4.2018 General News
The body of an unknown woman was found wrapped in a bag in Noida today, the police said. The police received information in the morning about the bag in Sector 115 area, said Pankaj Pant, the station house officer (SHO) of Sector 49. The woman's age appeared to be around 25 years of age. It seems she was apparently killed somewhere and dumped here, Pant said. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, the SHO said, adding that they were waiting for the report to ascertain whether she was raped before being murdered.

Delhi Metro begins trial on Pink Line 24.4.2018 General News
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Tuesday started test runs on the 8.10 km stretch between Lajpat Nagar and Sir Vishweshwaraiah Moti Bagh section of the 59 km long Majlis Park-Shiv Vihar corridor (Line 7) of Phase-III, also known as the Pink Line.The test runs were flagged off by Managing Director, DMRC, Mangu Singh.During the test runs, the interface of the Metro train will be checked to ensure that there is no physical infringement with civil infrastructure during the movement of the train on the track.The new signalling technology, Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) and various subsystems of coaches will also be tested in the stretch."The response of the train at different speeds, braking of the train and the interconnection with the Operations Control Centre (OCC) will also be monitored during the trials. Metro train services between Dilshad Garden and Mansarovar Park stations were suspended today for over an hour as a precautionary measure when a fire broke out in nearby slums. According to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), at 1:15 pm, a heavy smoke was reported to be billowing out of the slums beneath the viaduct between Mansarovar Park and Shahdara (Line-1) Metro stations. "As a precautionary measure, the train services were suspended between three stations between Dilshad Garden and Mansarovar Park Metro stations during this period. The rest of the line remained unaffected," the DMRC said in a statement. It also stated that normal services were resumed at 2.33 pm after due clearances. A fire broke out today in the slums in Mansarovar Park area of Shahdara. According to the Delhi Fire Services, a call was received at 1 pm about the blaze and 15 fire tenders were rushed to the spot.
