Gujarat: Release data of reused oil causing cancer, CAIT asks authorities 12.6.2018 DNA: Recent Columns
Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) on Monday asked state's food regulator to release the data which suggests that if edible oil is used multiple times can cause cancer. The state government had recently mandated that beyond a certain extent edible oil cannot be reused for cooking or else it is harmful to human health and can cause even cancer. CAIT wants the government to review its decision on merits and scientific analysis. As per the norms of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), edible oil if reused multiple times to cook food is harmful to the consumer. Cooking in same oil multiple times would increase the content of Total Polarized Compound (TPC) to exceed the permissible limit of 25%. Gujarat is conducting a pilot study to execute the provision. However, in a letter to Food and Drugs Control Authority (FDCA) of Gujarat, CAIT has demanded from the findings of any scientific study that proves that TPC beyond 25% has causes cancer. NDMC to register weekly market street vendors 13.4.2018 General News
The NDMC has decided to register weekly market venders so that they can get easy bank loans and not face harassment at the hands of authorities, North Delhi Mayor Preety Agarwal today said. The registration will be done by the North Delhi Municipal Corporation under the amended Street Vendors Act, 2014, the NDMC said in a statement. "Special schemes will be formed by the NDMC for traders, street vendors and consumers of weekly markets. Work is under progress on introducing the scheme of 'Navodaya Bazaars'/ smart wheel and smart bazaar," she said. Under the new rules, the only NDMC can register them and issue license to street vendors, the civic body said in a statement. Agarwal said once the tehbazari fees is revised, the NDMC can earn estimated annual revenue of over Rs 27 crore in the financial year 2018-19. Registration of street vendors of weekly bazaar and issuing them license will help bring transparency in the system other then saving the vendors from corruption and harassment,
