A series of bomb scares across the city sent the Delhi police into a flap on Monday, but these later turned out to be a hoax. A bag with a cellphone and some wires set off the first alert near Army Base Hospital at Delhi Cantonment: a scooterist tried to hand it to a cab driver sitting in his vehicle, who objected, and then dumped it and fled. An alarm was sounded and the police blocked all roads leading there, setting of a 10 km-long traffic jam. The bomb squad and dog squad did not find anything suspicious, but the police said the forensic report was awaited. The police got three more PCR calls on suspicious bags: these were later called hoaxes. At 4 pm there was a call about a suspicious bag hanging on a motorcycle in the upmarket M-Block Market of Greater Kailash Part I. But nothing suspicious was found in it by the bomb squad and dog squad.
