UP Cong MLC seeks bullock cart pass to beat petrol price hike 25.5.2018 General News
In a novel protest against spiralling petrol and diesel prices, a Congress legislator wrote to the principal secretary of the Legislative Council today to issue him a vehicle pass for a bullock cart, which, he said, would also be used to ferry other members of the party. MLC Dipak Singh said earlier some legislators had tried to come to the Vidhan Sabha on a bullock cart, but they were not allowed. "That is why I have sought a vehicle pass for facilitating my coming and going from the main building where we have to come very often for various works, even when the House in not in session," he told PTI. Petrol and diesel prices have been on the rise, posing immense hardships to the common people and no respite is in sight, the Congress MLC said, adding that his move will save fuel as he will ferry his legislator colleagues. CBI conducts searches at Western Railway official's residence 25.5.2018 General News
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today conducted searches at the residence of a senior official of the Western Railway in Rajkot. On May 22, the Central agency had registered an FIR against Ved Prakash Srivastava, a divisional engineer with the Western Railway, and his wife Vibha at Jabalpur for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income. The anti-corruption wing of the CBI today conducted searches at Srivastava's official residence in Loco Line Colony in Rajkot, an official of the agency said here. Before being transferred to Rajkot in December 2017, Srivastava, a native of Jabalpur, was posted as executive engineer (construction) in Mumhai. He is accused of acquiring properties and movable assets worth Rs 2.16 crore during 1998 to 2018, while his income from legitimate sources would have been Rs 1.33 crore. The CBI also alleged in the FIR that Srivastava's wife, though a housewife, showed income of Rs 15.78 lakh from salary, .

BEML posts Q4 net profit at Rs 187 cr 25.5.2018 General News
State-run BEML has today posted a flat standalone profit of Rs 187.6 crore for the quarter ended March 2018. The company had posted a standalone profit of Rs 186.4 crore in the year-ago period, BEML said in a BSE filing. The company's standalone income during January-March quarter declined to Rs 1,264.41 crore, over Rs 1,345.67 crore in the year-ago period. Total expenses of the company dropped to Rs 1,042.37 crore, over Rs 1,145.42 crore in the year-ago period. BEML Ltd --formerly known as Bharat Earth Movers Ltd-- operates under three major business verticals viz, mining and construction, defence and rail and metro. The three verticals are serviced by nine manufacturing units located at Bengaluru, Kolar Gold Fields (KGF), Mysore, Palakkad and Subsidiary - Vignyan Industries Ltd, in Chikmagalur district.
