One of Delhi’s most notorious gangsters, who carried a reward of Rs 2 lakh on his head (one lakh from Haryana and one from Delhi police), was among the four criminals killed after a shoot-out in south Delhi’s Chattarpur area on Saturday. Eight policemen were wounded in the operation which ended with the death of Rajesh Bharti, and his three accomplices Sanjeet Vidrohi, Umesh Don and Viresh Rana. Vidroh also carried a reward of Rs one lakh on his head, while Umesh was carrying a reward of Rs 50,000. Bharti topped Delhi’s most wanted gangster list, and had escaped from Haryana Police’s custody in February this year. He was wanted in 28 cases of murder, car-jacking, theft, extortion and other crimes. A Special Cell team of Delhi police was acting on specific information that Bharti was hiding in a farmhouse in Chattarpur with his armed men with the intention of carrying out a heinous crime. Irritated of being constantly nagged by his wife, a man strangled her to death at their residence in North-West Delhi's Shakurpur area on Tuesday morning. He then went to the police station and confessed to killing his wife after which he was taken into custody. The Bihar government may consider tweaking its prohibition law to address concerns that government officials are misusing its provisions, NDTV reported, quoting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Kumar acknowledged that there had been complaints of misuse of the prohibition law and allegations of involvement of those in the government machinery. "This problem too would be solved after a review being carried out," he said. Man picked up for "theft" dies in custody 30.5.2018 General News
: A 29-year-old man, who was picked up allegedly in connection with a theft case, today died in custody, the police said. Premchand (29) died due to health problems, the Cyberabad police said. He had liver problem and suffered heart stroke, thepolice said dismissing reports as rumours spreading in some social media groups that a "lockup death" had taken place at Sanath Nagar Police station. Clarifying that it was "custodial death", police said he was suffering from ill-health for many days. While police was taking him to recover "property", he died following stroke at Bhongir, a statement fromCyberabad PoliceCommissionerate said. Further details will be known after post-mortem, it said.
