Manipur gets first solar toilet 26.5.2018 General News
Manipur has become the first state in the Northeast and the third state in India to have solar toilets, which were inaugurated at Ibudhou Marjing hill Heingang by Tourism Director, Waikhom Ibohal last week."I met an entrepreneur while attending a global summit in Guwahati recently where I was introduced to the technology of solar toilets. I immediately thought of using such toilets in Manipur," said Ibohal.He mentioned that if the initial projects are successful then he might install such solar toilets in almost all tourist spots across the State.The founder, (Ravikas Maitri) Ravi Senji, along with a dealer in Manipur came together and worked on setting up these solar toilets on a trial basis in the State.The solar panel, connected to the toilets, absorb the heat to generate power and are also efficient to transform waste material as claimed by the founder.Ravi Senji, based in Chennai, had informed that the solar toilet is the third project that has been installed in Manipur. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel in an open jeep on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway on Sunday and also inaugurate India's first smart and green highway, the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE), built at a cost of Rs 11,000 crore, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said today. The Prime Minister's road show will commence from the Nizamuddin Bridge, the start of the about 9 km first leg of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, and after a 6-km travel on the stretch, he is scheduled to fly to Baghpat for dedicating the EPE to the nation. Unable to pay salaries, Gurgaon firm offers shares to staff 25.5.2018 General News
Unable to pay salaries to hundreds of its employees, a Gurgaon-based private firm said today that it has come up with a novel plan to compensate them by offering them company shares. The company Eastman Auto and Power Ltd is a "startup". Managing Director Shekhar Singal said the company does "not have adequate money" during initial days and, therefore, has "decided to offer Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)". "The idea is to attract elite talents with ESOP in which full-time employees generally earn share as part of their compensation. It is a reward to the employees for their countless contribution while empowering them to play an integral (role) in our shared future," Singhal said. SDMC becomes 'first' civic body in country to generate solar energy, selling surplus power 24.5.2018 General News
The SDMC today claimed that it has become the "first" civic body in the country to generate solar energy by installing panels over rooftops of its over 55 buildings and earn a huge income in three months by selling surplus power to a power distribution company. The SDMC also plans to install solar panels over rooftops of its 400 buildings by June 2019, in a bid to ramp up its efforts to go green and earn revenue simultaneously, officials said. As much as 2500 KW peak solar power is being generated from the solar panels installed in 54 schools and a community centre, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation said in a statement. It has earned Rs 9.69 lakh by selling its surplus power to distribution company BSES after consumption in its own buildings, it said.
