18 SAIL employees bag PM Shram Award 25.1.2018 General News
State-owned SAIL today said its eighteen employees have bagged the prestigious Prime Minister Shram Award for the year 2016. In total, 50 employees working in departmental undertakings, public sector undertakings (PSUs) and private sector units have won the coveted award for the year 2016, SAIL said in a statement. "Eighteen employees of SAIL's Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) have brought laurels to the Company by bagging the prestigious Prime Minister Shram Award for the year 2016," Steel Authority of India (SAIL) said. It is a matter of pride that more than one third of them are from SAIL-Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP). Besides, two out of the three women employees who have won the award belong to RSP.

7th Asia Steel International Conference from Feb 6 22.1.2018 General News
The 7th Asia Steel International Conference will be held in Bhubaneswar from February 6 to 9. Tata Steel, in association with the Indian Institute of Metals, announced it here today. Essar Steel has got the 'Consent to Establish' from the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) here for its Ghoraburhani-Sagasahi iron ore block. It was the first iron ore mine to be auctioned in the country. Essar Steel won the block with about 100 million tonnes deposits, outbidding strong contenders like Tata Steel and Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL).The pollution board has given the 'Consent to Establish' under Section 25 of Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Section 21 of Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981.The approval is for production of run of the mine iron ore of capacity 7.16 million tonnes per annum (mtpa), crushing and screening plant and iron ore beneficiation plant of 6.7 mtpa.
