TURA, Sep 19: The Garo Students’ Union (GSU) – Mindikgre regional unit has raised the matter of some non Garo people, residing in the district, fraudulently changing their identities to that of a Garo, a complaint that they had raised more than 4 years ago and which has failed to illicit any response from the administration.
The NGO had raised the matter of the acquiring of tribal status by non tribals in the year 2014 when they submitted memo to then DC of SGH after which a hearing was called. However despite the findings no action was taken against the people in question and they continued enjoying tribal status despite them not having Garo blood.
