Google tracks your movements, even when you explicitly tell it not to 13.8.2018 DNA: India
Google wants to know where you go so badly that it records your movements even when you explicitly tell it not to. An Associated Press investigation found that many Google services on Android devices and iPhones store your location data even if you've used privacy settings that say they will prevent it from doing so. Computer-science researchers at Princeton confirmed these findings at the AP's request. Days after a damning report ranked India as the worst country in the world for women, a shocking incident from Andhra Pradesh just cemented the Reuters’ verdict.  An engineering student at a private college in Andhra Pradesh was gangraped by her seniors, who also blackmailed the dastardly act to blackmail her. According to an NDTV report, the incident took place in February last year, when the 22-year-old student was gangraped by her seniors at a birthday party after they spiked her drink. The accused also filmed the act to blackmail her and continued to sexually abuse her for more than a year. When the survivor approached the college management, the teachers simply told the accused to delete the video and ‘apologise’ to the girl. In their defence, the college maintains that it didn’t approach the police as it would have tarnished the name of the girl. Meanwhile, the other two accused graduated this year.  The incident came to light, when the survivor went to police to complain about the third accused, ...
