KIA might levy UDF to fund 2 Metro stations 17.10.2017 Deccan Herald - News
Air passengers could end up paying for the two metro stations inside the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA). Here's why: The country's two busiest airports at Delhi and Mumbai have taken the User Development Fee (UDF) route to finance part of the Metro links, and KIA could follow suit. The Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) has already agreed in principle, to finance the two stations within the KIA premises. Independent analysts have estimated that the project could cost BIAL about Rs 1,000 crore. How costly will the UDF be then? The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (AERA) is scheduled to fix the rate after a consultation process that could begin next month. BIAL had submitted its tariff proposal to AERA for the control period (April 1, 2016 to March 31, 201) in March 2016. This was further revised in April 2017. BIAL had proposed that a capital expenditure of Rs. 11,000 crore would be incurred on the second terminal building, second runway and other infrastructure projects ...

IndiGo refuses to shift partial operations to T2 at Delhi airport 10.10.2017 DNA: Urban Tales
Low-cost carrier IndiGo has written to the Delhi airport operator refusing to shift a part of its flight operations from terminal 1 (T1) to terminal 2 (T2) and threatened "action" if it is forced to do so. Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) had asked airlines operating from T1 to shift one-third of their flights to T2 to be able to carry out expansion work according to its master plan and to meet growing passenger numbers. No-frills airlines IndiGo, SpiceJet and GoAir operate from T1, which handled around 24 million passengers in 2016-17 whereas its rated capacity is 20 million passengers per annum. "We are not agreeable to shifting only a part of our operations from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 of Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi with effect from October 29, 2017, as this will result in widespread confusion and cause grave inconvenience to our passengers, who already hold confirmed bookings," says the letter from IndiGo to DIAL.
