The US-India Business Council (USIBC) on Monday launched a task force on civil aviation, which has been tasked with identifying opportunities to aid the implementation of the National Civil Aviation Policy (NCAP). USIBC is the largest bilateral trade association in the United States, with a presence in Washington DC, New York, Silicon Valley, Chicago and New Delhi. Palash Roy Chowdhury, Managing Director-India, Pratt & Whitney, will be the Chairman, while Amber Dubey, partner and head of aerospace and defense, KPMG will be the co-chairman spearheading the initiative, a statement from USIBC stated. The Centre on Saturday gave in-principle approval for a greenfield airport in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida, the second one in the National Capital Region (NCR). The proposed Noida International Airport, which will come up in the "next four-five years", is aimed at easing pressure on the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) here. To be built in Greater Noida's Jewar, which is 72 km from the IGI Airport and 65 km from the Hindon Air Force station, the airport will be able to handle 30-50 million passengers per year.
