Punjab govt okays Bill for social security fund 24.3.2018 General News
The Amarinder Singh government has decided to create a dedicated social security fund for the poor and deprived sections of society. The Punjab Cabinet today gave its assent to table The Punjab Social Security Bill, 2018 in the ongoing Budget session of the assembly. A spokesperson in the Chief Minister's Office said the Bill relates to social services in the form of pension to senior citizens, old-aged, widows, destitute women, physically challenged persons, health and accident insurance, scholarship for education of children belonging to deprived sections, and other such financial assistance to the poor and needy as may be considered necessary. The Social Security Fund would be administered by a trust headed by the chief minister and comprising the finance minister, welfare minister and social security minister, besides various experts.

Technip India collaborated with the Rotary Club of Mumbai Sion Dist. 3141 to organise on-the-spot limb/caliper fitment camps in Mumbai to distribute prosthetics or artificial limbs, calipers and other physical aids and appliances at free of cost.The first such camp sponsored by Technip India was held at Dadar on December 28. Approximately 300 physically challenged individuals visited the camp and provided measurement and placed order. The second camp was held on Monday for fitting and installation of the artificial limbs based on measurements taken.Location of the camp is at Pritam Da Dhaba, Dadar, close to the railway station and state transport bus stand to make travel easier for the people. Needy people will be provided with Jaipur foot/ hand (artificial limb), calipers, wheelchairs, crutches during the camp. Hearing aids will also be provided to the needy patients after medical counseling.For these camps, the technicians carry equipment and materials and set up temporary workshops
