Union Statistics and Programme Implementation Minister DVSadananda Gowda on Tuesday supported Paryaya Pejawar Mutt seer Vishwesha Theertha Swami for hosting an Iftar party for the Muslim community at the Krishna temple in Udupi.

Defending the seer's action, he said the seer had hosted the Iftar party in good faith. Some leaders wear skullcap, host Iftar parties and pose for photographs. "What the Swamiji did was not for any publicity. There was no show. He did it in the interest of religious harmony,"he said.

SocialWelfare Minister HAnjaneya also supported the seer. "He has done nothing wrong. He has been doing sincere service for the last 60 years for a healthy society.What he has done will go a long way in improving Hindu-Muslim relations," Anjaneya said.
