The Delhi Police on Sunday registered a case against an Assistant Professor at Delhi University's Dyal Singh College, Kedar Kumar Mandal, for posting an objectionable statement about Goddess Durga on a social networking site on Friday. He has, however, not been arrested till now. According to the south district police, who had received the complaint regarding the professor on Saturday, the plaint was thoroughly examined before the accused was booked. Bengaluru Police today lodged a criminal case against a woman for making "objectionable posts" on her Facebook page which allegedly depicted Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in "poor light." An FIR was filed against the woman on complaint of BJP Yuva Morcha members, said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) S Ravi. "The BJP Yuva Morcha members filed a complaint against Prabha N Belavangala for uploading objectionable posts on her Facebook page, depicting Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister in a poor light," Ravi told PTI.In its complaint, the BJP Yuva Morcha has accused the woman of posting "obscene, morphed and tampered" images, purported to be of UP CM Adityanath, on the social media site, he said. The Supreme Court was on Friday told that Uttar Pradesh Police would go ahead with the prosecution of a Bareilly boy for allegedly posting objectionable comments on Facebook against senior SP leader Azam Khan only under Indian Penal Code and not under the controversial section 66A of cyber law which was quashed by the Supreme Court. A bench comprising justices J Chelameswar and R F Nariman took on record the submission of the state government's counsel Gaurav Bhatia that since section 66 A has been quashed by the apex court, the accused will be prosecuted under other penal provisions.
