RSU develops mobile app to deal with fake cops 19.10.2017 DNA: India
In an attempt to solve the menace of fake cops in the state, who are harrassing citizens more frequently, Raksha Shakti University has developed a mobile application that will help people authenticate cops. The application named COPS-G (Citizen Online Policeman Search-Gujarat) will have database of all the cops of different levels across the state. The application has been developed by third semester M-Tech student at RSU Priyank Parmar and mentored by professor Ravi Sheth. Speaking about the same, Priyank said, "The idea to work on this stuck me after I witnessed increasing cases of fake cops. They often harass people and people fall in their trap and end up paying a lot of money. We took almost six months to work on the app." As many as 50 fake cop gangs are reportedly operating in the state, with nearly 25 of them based in Ahmedabad alone. Telecom operator Vodafone is gifting 'eco-friendly' crackers containing soya or tulsi plant seeds to customers visiting its stores in Delhi. "As a part of these 'Super Celebrations', we are happy to announce the Vodafone Green Diwali Campaign which aims to give our customers a great experience this Diwali. "Our specially designed eco-friendly crackers contain air purifying plant seeds that will bring about a change in the pollution levels of the city leading to a safer and healthier atmosphere for everyone," Vodafone India Delhi and NCR Business head Alok Verma said in a statement. In the gift pack, the company is giving 'super crackers' which are eco-friendly water soluble papers in form of cracker that carry soya or tulsi plant seeds. The stock markets scaled new peaks in the truncated trading week ahead of Diwali buoyed by encouraging start to second quarter results, falling inflation and positive comments by International Monetary Fund (IMF) chief Christine Lagarde.
