Jaipur airport is taking wings: Passenger traffic has surged by 31% in fiscal 2016-17 with the total number of passengers touching 38,05,711 during the period. Of these, 4,54,183 were international passengers with the rest being domestic passengers. In the financial year 2015-16, the total number of passengers travelling through Jaipur airport stood at 29,04,350. That year, too, the growth rate was an impressive 31.52 %. As such, the airport authorities are now gearing up to ease the congestion at the airport. In order to do that, a plan has been charted whereby terminal 2 (T2) will see a horizontal expansion. Work for the development of terminal 2 has already been awarded. Moreover, a project monitoring consultant was appointed on January 12this year .He will be responsible for the execution the expansion plan of terminal 2. Norway is exploring ties with Gujarat in the field of ports, shipping, green energy, sea-food, chemicals and petrochemicals sectors. The discussions were held during the visit of Ann Ollestead, Consulate General of Norway in Mumbai to Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Wednesday. “An industry delegation from Norway will meet business delegates from Gujarat by the end of April to explore collaboration possibilities,” said Ollestad. AMC set to become 1st urban local body to issue green bonds 21.1.2018 DNA: India
After a year's wait for the central government nod to issue tax-free bonds, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is finally set to issue green bonds, reportedly the first Urban Local Body (ULB) to issue such bonds in the country. The civic body has been exploring new ways to raise money through the market, eyeing international investors as well. In his draft budget for the 2018-19 fiscal, civic chief Mukesh Kumar has proposed to issue green bonds worth Rs 200 crore. Green bonds are expected to bring a solution to the issue of Pirana garbage dump as AMC may utilise the money raised from selling the bonds to initiate bio-mining of the garbage hill. The money raised from green bonds is primarily utilised for projects in sanitation, cleanliness and waste recycling.
