Xiaomi launches Redmi Note 8 series, full specs and details inside 16.10.2019
Xiaomi launched the Redmi note 8 series of smartphones today at an event in New Delhi. Rolling out smartphones Redmi note 8, Redmi note 8 pro and the MIUI11, the company said in a statement that it looks to disrupt the smartphone segment all over again. Redmi Note 8 will be available in 6GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB storage variants for Rs 9,999 and Rs 12,999 respectively. Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 8 Pro will be available in 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 128GB storage variants for Rs 14,999, Rs 15,999 and Rs 17,999 respectively.  Both smartphones go on sale from the 21st October at 12 noon, available at Mi Home stores, e-commerce website Amazon and on Mi"s website as well. New Delhi:  E-commerce giant Flipkart on Tuesday said it is setting up a new local entity - Flipkart Farmermart - that will focus on food retail in India, as it looks to take on arch-rival Amazon in the segment. According to sources, Flipkart is expected to invest about Rs 2,000 crore initially in the business and pump in more funds as required as it scales up supply chain, storage and logistics. "In line with the Government of India's FDI policy, which allows 100 per cent foreign direct investment (FDI) in food retail for food produced and manufactured in India, Flipkart is applying for appropriate licenses from the government," Flipkart Group CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy said in a statement. E-commerce to touch $32 bn GMV this year 15.10.2019
Chennai: Having achieved 30 per cent growth during the first phase of the festive season sales, e-commerce sector is well-poised to touch an aggregate gross merchandise value of $32 billion this year. In 2018, the e-commerce sector had garnered a gross merchandise value of $24 billion. The January-May period accounted for 35 per cent of 2018 GMV. In 2019, between January and May, e-commerce has recorded a GMV of $10.9 billion, growing by 29 per cent over the same period last year. "A mid-term health check of the sector done in May 2019 shows that the first five months of the year have been strong for the sector, with both horizontals and verticals growing 29 per cent YoY," said RedSeer Consulting. Going by last year's share of GMV for last seven months of the year and assuming same ratios, for the last seven months of this year, RedSeer predicts that the GMV will touch $32 billion this year, clocking a 33 per cent YoY growth. Lucknow: Police here have arrested two men for allegedly duping online e-commerce company, Amazon, worth crores of rupees, said police. The two accused have been identified as Rohit Soni and Rahul Singh Rathore, both hail from Rajasthan. "The investigative team of Amazon and their lawyer had said that a team of fraudsters was duping Amazon worth crores of rupees in the last 2-3 years. A case under relevant sections of the IPC and IT Act was lodged in the matter and an investigation was started," Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kalanidhi Naithani told reporters here on Sunday. "The accused used to rent accommodations in states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand among others and used to order high-end products, change the product with those of inferior quality and then cancelled or returned the bookings, leading to double losses to the company," he added. Noida: A 30-year-old delivery agent associated to an e-commerce firm was booked by police in Noida after a city-based customer accused him of rape attempt, officials said on Thursday. The delivery agent had reached the woman's house to pick up a product she had ordered from Amazon for replacement Monday morning when the alleged incident took place, they said. An argument had broken out between the man and the woman, who works in a private firm, over replacement of the product after which he allegedly tried to outrage her modesty, a senior official said. However, the woman has not turned up to record her statement though she was asked twice on Thursday to reach the police station concerned, a senior police official said. "Now she has told police that she wants to withdraw the case, saying the complaint was made by her sister and not her.
