No MLA has quit panel to discipline media, says Speaker 6.4.2017 Deccan Herald - News
Legislative Assembly Speaker KBKoliwad has said that none of the BJP MLAs or minister Ramesh Kumar have resigned from the joint legislature committee set up to frame regulations for the media. Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru on Thursday, Koliwad said, "You (media) may say that the BJPmembers and the minister are not ready to be part of the panel. But they have not sent their resignation to me. The committee was constituted by the Assembly. And, if it has to be dissolved or changes effected, it should be done on the floor of the House." To a question, he said: "It is my prerogative to form a House committee. I need not take consent from anyone." This he said when a reporter pointed out that Leader of the Opposition Jagadish Shettar had said that he was not consulted before the formation of the panel. Koliwad also said the committee was set up on the request by many MLAs. It has been constituted with a 'good intention' and not to control the media, he said. India, Bangladesh to sign civil nuclear pact 6.4.2017 Deccan Herald - News
India and Bangladesh will ink a framework agreement for civil nuclear cooperation during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's four-day visit to New Delhi beginning on Friday. The Hasina government has been exploring the atomic energy option to meet growing demands of power-starved Bangladesh. New Delhi is likely to offer its support to Dhaka, starting with capacity building in the area of peaceful use of nuclear energy. Make your walls wear art 6.4.2017 Deccan Herald - Supplements
If furniture fills our rooms, wall decor brings the room alive. Our walls and the way they are done have a lot to build in the way we feel about the room. It's not easy to pick a colour from the shade card. Given the myriad tones and shades, any one would go crazy. And once the walls are done, choosing a theme for decor is a step above it all. You will have to go through options like botanical, coastal, Zen, foodie, seascapes, maps, organic, solid colours, stripes etc. Whatever inspires you, simply pick that up. For the next few days, observe your surroundings and focus your mind on the subtle aspects that pull you. It could be a flower, a colour, a fruit, a painting, dance, food, certain aromas or just how you feel at any given moment - focus on just about anything. Now pick your top two or three inspirations and associate colours, objects or feelings with them. For example, you associate with peach the fruit. Now, look for what other colours and textures merge well with the colour. Turquoise can add a ...

SC hints at ordering joint trial in Babri case 6.4.2017 Deccan Herald - News
The Supreme Court on Thursday hinted at ordering a consolidated trial "to do complete justice" in two separate cases relating to the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition. One case is being tried at Lucknow against Kar Sevaks, and another at Rae Bareli involving senior BJP leader L K Advani, M M Joshi and Uma Bharti. A bench of Justices P C Ghose and R F Nariman said in a case like this the court has to step in to do complete justice. "We can do it (joint trial) using our inherent powers under (Article 142) the Constitution. When there was one conspiracy, why should there be separate trials? It has been going on for almost 25 years now. We may ask the HC to designate a judge who can conduct a time-bound trial so that it can finish in two years," the bench said. "We cannot let technical defects come in the way. It is a question of evasion of law against evasion of justice," the bench said, reserving its order on the CBI's plea to include criminal conspiracy charge against senior BJP leaders . Senior advocate K K ...
