Airtel may launch VoLTE services in next quarter 26.6.2017 Business Standard: Companies & Industry
As it looks to take on Reliance Jio, country's top mobile operator Bharti Airtel, which is currently undergoing trials for voice over LTE (VoLTE) in some cities including Mumbai, plans to launch commercial services in the next quarter.Although Airtel has not shared an exact timeline but people aware of the plans said the Sunil Bharti Mittal-owned firm is likely to launch VoLTE services in next quarter. Also, Airtel's 4G footprint will cover all the towns and cities by end of 2017 financial year. In a bid to connect residents of Delhi directly to their councillors and to motivate them to maintain cleanliness in their localities, the Municipal Corporations of Delhi (MCD) have launched an outreach programme that follows the Central government’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Titled Delhi Hum Sab Ka Ghar, the campaign includes radio spots and outdoor advertisements. The corporations have roped in three radio channels for the purpose — Radio City, Radio Mirchi, and Red FM. “The 60-day outreach programme has been divided into three parts. Each ward will get 20 days. During the course of the programme, 18-21 radio spots on cleanliness will be played on these stations daily,” North civic body PRO Yogendra Singh Mann said. Radio City will kick off the programme on Friday with its City ka Darbar on Friday.
