Youth killed in mishap on b’day 11.9.2012 Asian Age: Delhi
Yet another case of overspeeding and rash driving claimed the life of a youth who was returning with his friends from his birthday party. <!--break--> According to the police, five boys, Pradeep, Kshitij, Divya, Rahul and Jatin were returning from Pradeep’s birthday party in Gurgaon to Delhi on September 8 late night. While Divya was driving the silver Maruti Swift, Pradeep was sitting besides and the three others were on the rear seat of the car. Kshitij told the officials that Divya was driving very fast and they had even told him to slow down, but he continued to overspeed saying that he was getting late. Divya was driving rashly. “The accident happened when Divya tried to overtake a truck from right side. Due to high speed, he lost control and the car hit a divider on the NH 8 flyover. In an incident that sparked off outrage among the ranks of the Navi Mumbai police, unknown assailants in Navi Mumbai shot at a police sub-inspector on Sunday evening. The Navi Mumbai police has spread a city-wide dragnet to apprehend the accused, who are currently absconding. According to the Navi Mumbai police, the incident occurred at around 6.05 pm near the Rapid Action Force (RAF) camp in Taloja on Sunday. Police sub-inspector Bhaskar Satre, currently attached to the Central Jail in Taloja, was on his way to the jail along with his friend Anwar Sheikh in the former’s Maruti Swift, when they were shot at by two motorcycle-borne assailants. While the police is not yet clear about the exact sequence of events, Mr Satre has sustained a bullet wound to his right side and is currently being operated upon. A 12-year-old girl, who had gone missing while on her way home on Saturday in Pune, was found dead a few metres away from her home. Pooja Vilas Jadhav (16), who lives in the Pashan suburb of Pune, failed to return home after her tuitions, so her parents filed a missing person’s complaint. Her brother Vicky discovered her body the next morning. The victim was a student of Class 10 at the Sahyadri International School. Senior police inspector Ajay Kadam of Chaturshrungi police station said “They waited till 11.15 pm and finally filed a missing person’s complaint with us at around 11.45 pm on Saturday. Her brother then found her body next morning and they alerted the police. The body was found near a shrub at the corner of the road.
