Aurangabad administration to sterilise street dogs 26.4.2018 General News
The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation had asked the NGO Blue Cross to sterilise street dogs.It has been reported that people are getting increasingly frightened of street dogs, and therefore, the municipal corporation has decided to sterilise street dogs under the Animal Birth Control.It is said that there are approximately 50,000-60,000 dogs in the city, of which, around 50-60 dogs are sterilized every day.Veterinary surgeon Dr. Arvind Chauhan estimated that within three years, the street dogs population would reduce.

Britain's first turbaned Sikh MP Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, along with two NGOs, has started a campaign for the launch of a direct flight between London and Amritsar, a long pending demand of the British-Punjabi diaspora. The Labour party MP for Slough joined hands with the UK-based NGO, Social Education Volunteer Association (SEVA) Trust and the UK chapter of the Amritsar Vikas Manch (AVM), at an event within the House of Commons complex recently to initiate efforts to push for starting of the non-stop flight services with the Indian and Punjab governments. "In 2016, even with no direct connectivity, approximately 188,869 passengers (517 per day) travelled between Amritsar and the UK as transit passengers, via other Indian and foreign airports. 5-foot royal snake rescued from Delhi Assembly 25.4.2018 General News
A five-foot-long royal snake was rescued from the Delhi Assembly today. According to NGO Wildlife SOS, this was the second royal snake to be rescued by its team from the Delhi Assembly this year. "The nearly five-foot-long snake was found coiled up in an air cooler outside the library block (of the Assembly) by the staff," the NGO said in a statement. It stated that a two-member team of snake rescuers promptly arrived on site to carry out the rescue operation and they carefully extricated the snake from the cooler and transferred it into a safe transport carrier. The Assembly is located very close to Kamla Nehru Ridge, which is home to a variety of wildlife species mainly birds, reptiles, deer and antelopes, Wildlife SOS special projects manager Wasim Akram said.

The BJP and the Congress are yet to submit their annual audit report for the year 2016-17 to the Election Commission, the poll panel informed the Delhi High Court today. The submission was made in an affidavit placed before a bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar which was hearing an NGO's plea for implementation of a Law Commission recommendation to enact a provision to monitor and regulate the expenditure by political parties. An annexure in tabular form, attached with the affidavit, indicates that while the audit reports for 2014-15 and 2015-16 were filed by the two parties, in the column for the year 2016-17, it says "report not filed". Senior advocate Arvind Nigam, appearing for the NGO Association for Democratic Reforms, said that the poll panel has to ensure that these parties submit their reports to it on time.
