Cases for 'violation of poll code' during rallies of 26.5.2018 General News
Election authorities have registered cases against representatives of the BJP and Shiv Sena for alleged violation of poll code during campaign rallies of Yogi Adityanath, Smriti Irani and Uddhav Thackeray in Palghar district. The campaigning for the May 28 Palghar Lok Sabha by-poll, necessitated by the death of BJP MP Chintaman Wanaga, ended today. A release from the district administration said banners and flags were found to have been put up without permission during the Uttar Pradesh chief minister's rally at Nalasopara on May 24. A case was registered against local organisers under the Maharashtra Prevention of Defacement of Property Act and the Representation of the People (RP) Act. Similarly, welcome arches were found to have been put up without permission at Dahanu, where Union minister Smriti Irani addressed a rally yesterday, the official release said. Steps taken by Maharashtra such as single window clearance and easy registration processes have helped industries cut down on time and cost of doing business, a report by CII today said. Reforms implemented by the state include simplification in procedures and regulations, reduction in documentations and lowering of transaction costs, the report said. These measures have "significantly helped in the reduction in time and cost of doing business for the industry, thereby establishing Maharashtra as one of the top investment destinations in the country", CII Director General Chandrajit Banerjee said. He added that industry members have started reaping the benefits of these reforms in form of reduction in time and money costs of doing business. As per the latest ranking of states in terms of ease of doing business, Maharashtra ranked at 10th position. The ranking is prepared by the commerce and industry ministry. The Shiv Sena has decided to nominate Shrinivas Wanga, the son of late BJP leader Chintaman Wanga, for the by-election to the Palghar (Scheduled Tribe) Lok Sabha constituency in Maharashtra. The government today constituted two panels of state finance ministers for considering issues relating to the levy of cess on sugar and incentivising digital payments under the GST regime.
