Indian Super League outfit Delhi Dynamos has appointed Mridul Banerjee as the new assistant coach of the club. The 59-year-old will take over from Shakti Chauhan who left the side earlier this month. Banerjee joins Dynamos after completing his stint as the Head Coach of Mohammedan Sporting where he guided the team to a fourth-place finish in the I-League Second Division Group C. The former East Bengal head coach joins the club on the back of close to three decades of coaching experience that has seen him being associated with the likes of Mohun Bagan, Indian Arrows, India U-16 and India U-19 among others. The highly acclaimed Banerjee is no stranger to success as he comes on the back of guiding West Bengal to a Santosh Trophy title last year. His impressive record also saw him being awarded with the prestigious Amal Dutta Memorial Trophy'. PIL to cancel lease of Kandla Port land to firm, HC seeks Centre's reply 16.5.2018 General News
The Delhi High Court today sought response of the Centre on a PIL seeking cancellation of a lease awarding 50 acres of land at Kandla Port in Gujarat to a private firm. A bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar issued notice to the Ministry of Shipping, Kandla Port Trust and the firm, Friends Salt Works and Allied Industries (FSWAI), and sought their stand on the plea by an NGO which has termed the tender process as "sham". The court listed the matter for further hearing on September 24. The NGO, Centre for Public Interest Litigation (CPIL), has alleged that the Kandla Port Trust (KPT) overvalued the structures set up at the site by FSWAI, when it had leased the land in the past, to ensure that only the firm gets the contract. The petition, filed by the advocate Prashant Bhushan, alleged that KPT overvalued the assets, including a liquid storage tank terminal, at Rs 207 crore which a successful bidder for the land had to pay to FSWAI under the new tender ..

Police foils abduction bid in Jammu 16.5.2018 General News
The police has foiled an abduction bid in Jammu city and arrested one of the three accused, officials said today. Last evening, the police received information that a man, identified as Rajinder Singh, had been abducted by three people from Shakti Nagar area, they said. Police swung into action and deployment was stepped up at various checkpoints in the area. The abductors fled seeing a police Gypsy approaching, leaving behind Singh and their vehicle, police said. One of the accused was arrested while fleeing and Singh was rescued, they added. A case has been registered and a hunt to nab the remaining two accused is underway.
