IPL 2018 - SRHvDD: Rashid Khan stars again as Sunrisers Hyderabad climb to top of table 6.5.2018 DNA: Opinion
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) pocketed another win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after they got the better of Delhi Daredevils (DD) by seven wickets at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal on Saturday.  Chasing 164 to win, Hyderabad went past the total with one ball to spare, thanks to cameos by Yusuf Pathan (27*) and captain Kane Williamson (32*).  Needing 14 in the last over, it was always easy for the tall Pathan who went after Delhi seamer Daniel Christian hitting a six and a four after a double on the first ball as Williamson scored the winning shot. Earlier, Delhi Daredevils could not cash in on the brilliant platform laid by young Prithvi Shaw as Sunrisers Hyderabad restricted them to 163 for 5 in an IPL encounter on Saturday. Shaw smashed 65 off 36 balls but after scoring 95 in the first 10 overs, DD managed only 67 in the back 10 with the pitch getting slower and the odd delivery holding up. Leg-spinner Rashid Khan (2/23 in 4 overs) was the most impressive bowler for Sunrisers as he ...

MS Dhoni can't win another IPL; KXIP and SRH are the favourites, says astrologer Greenstone Lobo 28.4.2018 DNA: Popular News
Can Mumbai Indians (MI) still make it to the Indian Premier League (IPL) playoffs, Can Mahendra Singh Dhoni win another title? Can Shreyas Iyer change the fortunes of Delhi Daredevils (DD)? How many more times can Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) stifle the opposition? Midway into IPL 2018, many questions have arisen and let’s look at them astrologically. Mi have always been slow starters and pick up steam in the latter stages of the tournament. Not this time, though. Rohit Sharma cannot win back-to- back IPL titles especially with the coach being the same. Shreyas Iyer has started off in blazing fashion after replacing Gautam Gambhir as the skipper of the DD. He has a good horoscope too. But his being too young will prevent his team to qualify for the playoffs. The collective strength of the individual star players has taken Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to a good position. They would continue to soar and may even reach the playoffs. But they will surely not win the tournament as Dhoni and Stephen Fleming have won ...

IPL 2018: Anil Kumble makes bold prediction, explains which teams hold upper hand 7.4.2018 DNA: India
Legendary Indian leg-spinner and India’s head coach between June 2016 and 2017, Anil Kumble, has predicted a new winner this IPL 2018, which gets under way with three-time champions Mumbai Indians taking on comeback team and twice winners Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday evening. “It is about time RCB won the title. I know 10 years is too long (a wait for the title),” said Kumble, who was captain of the Bengaluru franchise that finished as runners-up to Deccan Chargers in the second edition of IPL in South Africa in 2009. “Possible,” Kumble said when DNA asked if we could see a new winner this IPL. “It is very difficult to predict in a T20 game. All the eight teams are equally balanced. If you look at the winning teams in the past, generally, other than the 15 players, you end up using 15 players (consistently) by the end of the tournament. If teams can do that and get off to a good start that will be a challenge. Obviously, momentum will be the key.   “All teams would want to win ...

IPL 2018: U-19 bowling sensation Nagarkoti gets Rs 3.2 crore, Prithvi and Shubman also become crorepatis 27.1.2018 DNA: Opinion
Three Indian players who are currently in New Zealand for the Under-19 World Cup have become crorepatis in Satuday's IPL 11 auction.  Kamlesh Nagarkoti who impressed one and all, including ex-Indian captain Sourav Ganguly with his raw pace was sold at Rs 3.20 cr. KKR managed to buy him after fending off bids from SRH and KKR. Nagarkoti is from Rajasthan and had a base price of Rs 20 lakh. He clocked over 145 km in group match against Australia and is already being hailed as the next big thing in Indian bowling.  U-19 star Shubman Gill who has hit a rich vein of form was amply gifted for his talent. With a bid starting at Rs 20 lakhs, KXIP, DD and RR started the bidding war and later KKR joined the party. Finally KKR got him for an impressive Rs 1.8 crore outbiding RR.  Indian U-19 Captain Prithvi Shaw who has already shown his class in domestic cricket also went for Rs 1.2 crore. DD bought him but RR, RCB also showed interest. One assumed Shaw would get top money among U-19 batters, but Shubman with a ...

I am excited to join our forces and cannot wait to compete again having a new team to back me up." DD scores self-goal with Free Dish 16.10.2017 DNA: Wide Angle
The commercialisation of Doordarshan (DD) Direct service, run by Prasar Bharati, which entails lending transponders of its high power satellite to private players, has come a cropper. Touted as a profitable venture that would attract revenues, the scheme has in fact cost the central and state exchequer a hefty amount of Rs 4,785.6 crore in just two years. It has also indirectly helped private channels to avoid taxes. The DD Direct (now also called DD Free Dish) was primarily started as a free platform in the year 2002 to deliver Doordarshan channels to viewers spread across vast hinterlands of India where the reach of terrestrial transmitters was limited. What began as a noble initiative was soon lost in sight as DD Direct began commercialisation of its services by auctioning the slots to private channels. The capacity of the platform was increased to 80 channels by adding more transponders. The commercialisation was projected by Doordarshan as a profitable venture, as the auction prices increased to ...
