Repairs disrupt railway traffic on Jaipur-Ahmedabad route 18.8.2018 DNA: Urban Tales
About a dozen trains running through the state will be affected on Friday and Saturday due to the engineering work which is being done at Sabarmati station in Gujarat. While a few trains have been cancelled for August 18 & 19 or just only on August 19, a few have been partially cancelled while for a few routes has been changed. The passengers travelling to Abu Road, Mehsana, Ahmedabad and Sabarmati will be affected by this engineering work which is being done to set up a coach terminal at Sabarmati station. Giving the information, chief public relation officer of NWR, Tarun Jain informed that train number 54805 which runs between Ahmedabad and Jaipur will be cancelled between stations of Ahmedabad and Abu Road on August 18 and 19. Similarly train running between Jaipur-Ahmedabad has been cancelled between the Abu Road and Ahmedabad station on August 18.  Likewise 54803 Jodhpur-Ahmedabad will also remain partially cancelled between Aburoad and Ahmedabad on August 18 and 19 and 54806 Ahmedabad Jodhpur will ...

The underground metro tunnel is slithering towards the Kalupur Railway station, where there will be integration of the bullet train, the railways and the Metro rail. Ahmedabad's Metroman IP Gautam said the Metro service will begin next January 2019. "The work is progressing fast. Coaches of the Metro will be made by December and a trial run will start next January. The priority of the project is to finish the stretch between Vastral and Apparel Park first. Work is complete at Apparel Park depot and will be ready for operations by October," said Gautam, MD, MEGA (Metro Link Express for Gandhinagar Ahmedabad). There is a 6.5 km of underground section in the East-West corridor for which tract construction work has begun. "Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) are working for the underground network. Electrification of Sawai Madhopur-Jaipur line picks up pace 17.8.2018 DNA: Top News
In coming months travelling between Jaipur and Sawai Madhopur will become a lot more faster. The work of electrification of the Jaipur Sawai Madhopur railway line is in progress and has picked up speed. The railway engineers are working to convert this route which sees only diesel-driven trains in about 131 km into electrical route on the lines of other states. Closer to Durgapura Station one can see some of the electricity poles which have been erected by railways to electrify this section in coming times. Sources informed that NWR has planned to lay about 3,100 electrical poles. Out of these, about 2,100 poles have already been installed by RITES which has been doing this work. These electricity poles are known technically as overhead equipment mast and are just the first step towards electrifying this route. If you have recently been to the Ahmedabad Railway station and wondered about its cleanliness, you might not have fond memories. The station has definitely lost its shine and even the Swachata Abhiyan, a tom-tommed campaign, is a failure. A survey by the Centre, for its Swachh Rail, Swachh Bharat Ranking has shown that none of Gujarat’s railway stations figures in the top 10 clean stations either in the A1 category or even the A category.  In fact, Ahmedabad station ranks 17, which is much behind Vadodara that ranks 15th in the survey.  What is surprising is that this, despite the fact that in 2017, the survey had ranked Ahmedabad as the 7th cleanest station in the A1 category among 75 stations.  Bhuj railway station had been ranked as the 10th cleanest in the country in the A category railways station among 332 stations in 2017.   The top three positions in the A1 category this year has been taken by Jodhpur, Jaipur and Tirupati while in the A categories the top three cleanest stations are Marwar, ...
