CCTV to be installed in 2 district court rooms 19.10.2017 DNA: India
The Gujarat High Court has decided to install Close Circuit Television Cameras on the compounds of the two district courts. Very soon, the installation work will begin at Surat and Mehsana district courts. According to sources in the High Court, as part of a pilot project it has selected and court rooms of Surat and Mehsana districts, in which, CCTV cameras will be installed in the court room. This will record the court proceedings. It will record the complete proceedings, which one will accessible one at the respective court's registry's office and even the high court IT room will have access to it. The motive is to ensure that court functions full working hour and fast disposal of pending cases. Sources said whenever the Chief justice is visiting District or Taluka courts, he personally speaks to judicial officers and asks them to conduct trial for full working hours. The Southeast division police have arrested a 30-year-old MBA graduate who posed as a senior police officer, raided two offices and robbed electronic gadgets worth Rs. 3 lakh from the employees. The suspect has been identified as Irfan Pasha, a resident of BTM Layout, and was arrested based on the CCTV footage which helped the police nab him after the two offices he raided lodged separate complaints. The police have also arrested his accomplice, identified as Arbaaz Khan at their BTM Layout residence. Pasha, an MBA graduate failed to get a job. Upon interrogation, Pasha told police that he was fascinated with police work and decided to don the role of a senior police officer and make a quick buck. According to police, Pasha initially stole a visiting card from a relative who worked at the Department of Personal and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) in Vidhana Soudha. A fake journalist is among two suspected drug peddlers arrested by the police in Southeast Bengaluru's Koramangala. Rs 3 lakh worth of hashish (charas) is reported to have been seized from them. Rakesh (26) and Amul Hasan (23), both from Mangaluru, were arrested during a police raid at 20th Main, 7th Block, near the BBMP park, in Koramangala. Police said the duo was trying to peddle drugs to employees of a private company. One kilogram of hashish, Rs 3,200 in cash and three mobile phones were seized from them. Police also found the identity card of a media house called 'All India News 24x7' from Hasan who claimed to be a reporter with it. The Indian Navy has gone full steam to augment its infrastructure in Andaman, in order to jack up its presence in the vicinity of several strategically significant waterways in the Indian Ocean. The 3,500-ft existing runway at the naval air station, INS Baaz, at Campbell Bay is being extended, first to 6,000 ft and subsequently to 10,000 ft by 2021. The Navy plans to locate at least some of its P8I surveillance planes at the Campbell Bay once the runway extension work is over. Currently these aircraft, purchased from the USA, are stationed at INS Rajali at Arakonam in Tamil Nadu. In another two months, the Navy would shift its second floating dry dock to the islands on the eastern sea board to service a large number of ships operating in that area. Capable of docking warships of up to 8,000 tonnes displacement, the floating dock has high capacity ballast pumps along with advanced automated ballast control system.
