Political parties flout HC order on flexes 31.12.2016 deccanherald.com
Despite high court orders for removal of all illegal flex boards, banners and posters from the city, BBMP officials have turned a blind eye to the rampant use of political posters in KR Puram. Political parties seem to be outdoing each other to wish people a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year at the cost of the city's aesthetics. With this, not a single lamp post has been spared of a flex board or a poster. Political messages have even outnumbered commercial advertisements. Though all three main political parties -- Congress, BJP and the JD(S) -- are guilty, the Congress appears to be the "winner" of the "advertisement war" since the area is represented by party MLA Byrathi Basavaraj. Basavaraj's supporters have put up these illegal posters, banners, flex boards and hoardings featuring his picture. Madhav Prasad, a fruit vendor in KR Puram, said this is not new in this area. "It has been going on for many years. Earlier, it was Nandish Reddy, and now it is Basavaraj." He added that often there is a ...

Four more FIRs against Yeddyurappa 20.6.2015 deccanherald.com
The Lokayukta police on Saturday registered four more FIRs against former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa and others, including former MLA Nandish Reddy and former member of Parliament G S Basavaraju. The FIRs pertain to denotifications in Chellakere, Lottegollahalli, Halagevaderahalli and Mahalakshmi Layout. In the first case, the BDA had acquired land in Chellakere for "scheme between Banaswadi and Hennur Road". The original land owners in survey numbers 100/1 and 100/2 sought exemption of 15 guntas of land from the acquisition process on the ground that three residential buildings and tombs of ancestors existed there. The matter had reached the High Court twice and the BDA was directed to consider the application. While the BDA resolved not to denotify the land, the then chief minister Yeddyurappa issued orders denotifying the land, treating it as a special case. Nandish Reddy had recommended the denotification. In Lottegollahalli, Yeddyurappa had denotified 33 guntas of land in survey number 1/1 in ...

KR Puram-Whitefield underpass soon: DVS 3.11.2014 deccanherald.com
Railway Minister D V Sadananda Gowda on Sunday said that the work on the underpass between KR Puram and Whitefield will be completed within two months. Speaking after inspecting the KR Puram overbridge, he said for the last three years the railway underpass project was in a limbo and to facilitate motorists, the work would be put on a fast track. Former KR Puram MLA Nandish Reddy discussed traffic issues and requested the minister, who is also the local MP, to link the existing skywalk to the foot-over-bridge of the KR Puram railway station. "The railway quarters near the railway station is in a dilapidated state. The railway land on which the 28 staff quarters stand, could be used to widen the road at KR Puram," Reddy suggested. Gowda said that a meeting of the officials of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) and Railways will be held to discuss the issue. Facilities like toilets, rest rooms, etc, will be upgraded at the KR Puram railway station and the ...
