Action against firms polluting lake: minister 20.5.2017 deccanherald.com
Bengaluru Development Minister K J George on Saturday said action against companies and other institutions polluting Bellandur lake will be taken in keeping with the directions of the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

The minister told reporters after taking part in the Anti-terrorism Day oath at Vidhana Soudha: "NGT has clearly ordered strict action against the companies, apartments and other institutions polluting the waterbody." On the accusations levelled by JD(S) corporator Manjula Naryanaswamy alleging that supporters of Congress MLA Munirathna manhandled her, he said that action will be taken according to law.

The minister led the gathering in taking a pledge to oppose all forms of terrorism and to uphold and promote peace, social harmony and understanding among all fellow human beings during the event.

Allottees awaiting sites in the "jinxed" Arkavathy Layout will soon get a site of the same dimension in Kempegowda Layout and at the same cost. A decision in this regard was taken at the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Bengaluru Development Minister KJGeorge said that after a detailed discussion a decision was taken to allot alternative sites. "Allottees will be given sites of the same dimension allotted to them in Arkavathy Layout and at the same price. If people are interested, they can approach the BDA with an application and, alternative site will be allotted at Kempegowda layout," he said. The chances of Namma Metro line from Nagawara to Kempegowda International airport via Thanisandra are high. Earlier, Rail India Technical and Economic Service (Rites) had proposed nine routes for Metro-airport connectivity and with regard to this, BRMCL had published the details on its website and called for people's opinions. Around 1,300 people had responded and most of them favoured extension of Gottigere to Nagawara Metro line till the airport. In an effort to pacify 'rebel' star and Congress MLA M H Ambareesh, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday met him at his residence and held talks for over two hours.

Sources in the Congress said Siddaramaiah accompanied by Ministers M B Patil and K J George had dinner with Ambareesh. Siddaramaiah is learnt to have tried to convince Ambareesh not to quit the party.

Ambareesh, who is a prominent Vokkaliga leader from Mandya district, had raised a banner of revolt against the chief minister after he was removed from the Cabinet last year. He was also planning to quit as Congress MLA. Recently, he had dropped hints of quitting.

Bengaluru Development Minister K J George pulled up engineers working on the Okalipuram eight-lane corridor on Monday for delaying the project.

The minister and Mayor G Padmavathi inspected various infrastructure projects in the city. At Okalipuram eight-lane corridor, Gandhinagar MLA Dinesh Gundu Rao and Rajajinagar MLA S Suresh Kumar complained that the contractor was delaying the work.

The minister warned the contractor and the officers to speed up the work. The delay in the four grade separators along Chord Road drew the minister's ire.
