Shanthinagar legislator, N A Haris, has topped a survey of best-performing members of the state Assembly held by the NGO B.PAC. The survey shows Haris - belonging to the Congress party - scoring 84 out of 100 on multiple parameters ranging from attendance in Assembly sessions, educational qualification, utilisation of funds, the number of questions raised in the Assembly, criminal record and social media profile. The BJP on Monday said large-scale irregularities to the tune of Rs 850 crore have occurred in the purchase of sweeping machines and compactors in the BBMP.

BJP MLA Ashwathnarayan told reporters that Bengaluru Development Minister K J George and senior BBMP officials were involved in the scam. Sweeping machines supplied by the contractor were entirely different from what was specified in the tender. When the minister and the officials came to know that a complaint was lodged with the Lokayukta, the original file was destroyed and a new file was created in order to hush up the issue, he added.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah did not immediately react on Thursday when asked about the CBI filing a first information report (FIR) against Bengaluru Development Minister K J George in connection with the death of DySP M K Ganapathy. "It has to come to my knowledge. I will react tomorrow (Friday) after getting details," he told reporters.

In response, George sadi CID has given him a clean chit in th case. "The CBI will submit its interim report in two or three months. I will react only after that," he added.

Work on white topping of roads launched 9.10.2017 Deccan Herald - City
The much-awaited white topping of 29 major roads and six major junctions along a stretch of 93.47 km under the Nagarothana scheme was inaugurated by Bengaluru Development Minister K J George near Jnana Bharathi campus main gate on Mysuru Road on Monday. "We have chosen six lanes near Majestic, to begin with. This stretch of 10 km in total will be developed according to the TenderSURE project," said Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike commissioner N Manjunath Prasad.
