Parts of Sankey Road and the premises of Sankey Tank turned into a hub of festivities on Sunday as art and culture brought by Namma Bengaluru Habba made the weekend a memorable affair for many. The overcast sky did not deter nearly 80,000 people streamed in to the park throughout the morning and strolled along the walker's path punctuated by stalls. Tourism Minister Priyank Kharge, Bengaluru Development Minister K J George, MLAs C N Ashwath Narayan and N A Harris came to the park and took a walk. George couldn't contain the surprise when a flyboard performer rose up from the water right in front of them and stayed at a height of 25 feet. The leaders took a selfie with the flyboard surfer in the background. The pathway along the lake was bedecked with flags of different colours. Artists and craftsmen exhibited their work and talked to curious visitors with enthusiasm. "We wanted this to be ...

JD(S) may snap ties with Cong in Palike, hints HDK 17.8.2017 Deccan Herald - City
JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy on Thursday said the party will soon take a call on whether or not it should continue its alliance with the Congress in the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Council, ahead of the Mayoral election next month. "I will soon meet our party corporators and take a decision," Kumaraswamy told reporters, while dropping hints that his party is not keen on continuing the alliance. The Congress cannot hold the reins of administration in BBMP council without the support of the JD(S). Though the BJP is the single largest party, it does not have the numerical strength to take control of the council. "All decisions are taken by Bengaluru City Development Minister K J George and other Congress MLAs. The standing committees don't have any power. They don't get any files and no project comes to them for approval. This is nothing but a loot. That's why Bengaluru has become like this," Kumaraswamy said. The Siddaramaiah government may be the last Congress government in ...

The alleged atrocities against women corporators of Rajarajeshwari Nagar Assembly constituency once again rocked the BBMP council meeting leading to its adjournment on Thursday.
