Shanthinagar legislator, N A Haris, has topped a survey of best-performing members of the state Assembly held by the NGO B.PAC. The survey shows Haris - belonging to the Congress party - scoring 84 out of 100 on multiple parameters ranging from attendance in Assembly sessions, educational qualification, utilisation of funds, the number of questions raised in the Assembly, criminal record and social media profile. S Raghu, the Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from CV Raman Nagar, finds himself at the bottom of the survey with the score of 32%. Bengaluru Development and Town Planning Minister K J George has topped the list of ministers representing constituencies in the city with an 87% score, while M Krishnappa scored the least with 51%. The Mallya Hospital administration has launched a probe into the controversial discharge summary of Vidwath L, after the doctor who treated him was criticised by the High Court of Karnataka. The hospitals plastic surgeon, Dr Anand, had signed the discharge summary of Vidwath, who was brutally thrashed by Mohammed Nalapad Haris - son of Shantinagar MLA N A Haris - and his associates in a brawl at Farzi Cafe in UB City. Hospital CEO Commodore Indru Wadhwani told DH that its ethics committee had met and will investigate the matter. "Dr Anand is very much part of the panel of doctors at the hospital. The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday dismissed the bail petition of Mohammed Nalapad Haris, prime accused in the Bengaluru pub assault case. The court based its verdict on the grounds that the CCTV footage of the incident shows the horrendous atmosphere created by Nalapad and his aides and that there is no guarantee that such people will not tamper with the evidence if they are released. While rejecting the bail, Justice Sreenivas Harish Kumar stated that Nalapad, being the son of MLA N A Haris (Congress), wielded his muscle power by brutally assaulting the victim, Vidwath L. The order further states that there are prima facie materials to link Nalapad with non-bailable offences such as Section 306 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapon) and Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The judge also stated in his order that the sessions court had given cogent grounds for rejecting bail and thus the high court cannot interfere with the reasons assigned by the session ...
