Members from Payana, an association that works for the upliftment of marginalised communities, have written to the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) with regard to poor depiction of Hijra community in the Kannada film 'Varada Nayaka.'

Briefing reporters they said they will go on State-wide protest if the offensive dialogues about the community are not removed. "We approached the KFCC four days back and told them about the bad portrayal of Hijra women in the film. We are hoping that immediate action is taken with regard to this and scenes are deleted. Not just this movie, but we want KFCC to stop offensive depiction of marginalised communities in all the movies," said Soumya from Payana association.
