BMTF serves notice on Siddaiah 5.4.2013 deccanherald.com
The Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF) on Thursday served notices on BBMP Commissioner Siddaiah, Joint Director (Town Planning) S S Toppige and two builder brothers.

The development comes four days after a case was registered against the four. The BBMP officials are accused of sanctioning building plan and giving occupancy certificate to the builders, who have allegedly grabbed a canal and a bullock cart road, which are mentioned in the village map, and a multi-storey residential and commercial building came up there.

The BBMP sources said Toppige and other officials whose names are either included or likely to figure in the FIR are absconding fearing police action.

Evicted from Cox Town market, vendors have nowhere to go 5.4.2013 deccanherald.com
Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike is yet to fulfil a promise made eight years ago. Around 21 vendors from Cox Town market, who were asked to temporarily shift to the footpath till a new building was constructed for them, are awaiting BBMP's call to move in. "They told us that they will construct a better building in six months. It's been eight long years and all they offer is empty promise," says Abdul, a mutton shop owner. The 80-year-old Cox Town market has vendors selling flowers, vegetables, mutton, chicken and sea food. A 55-year-old vendor selling fish points to the swanky new building right opposite his shop and says, "That is BBMP office. All these years they told us the market will come up on that land. But they went back on their words." The new BBMP office houses the engineer's office, health and tax office. "They told us parking space would be provided for our vehicles. But after construction they said they need space to park their vehicles," says Ashfaque, another shopkeeper. ...

BBMP to issue tenders for cancelled garbage contracts 4.4.2013 Citizen Matters
With some garbage disposal contracts cancelled, BBMP is floating new tenders. 12 other tenders already approved have not been issued work orders due to the code of conduct.
Last September, after a long delay, the BBMP had invited new tenders for garbage collection and transportation in 91 packages. The 198 wards of the city are covered by these 91 packages. But the new tenders have come to effect in not even half of these; only 43 packages have new contractors now. In the remaining 48 packages, work is still being done by old contractors by extending their previous contracts.

But a bunch of new tenders - 12 of them - were approved by the state government on March 20, 2013. The government's approval came on the day when the…
