In the 9th Executive Committee meeting of National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), projects worth nearly Rs 4,000 crore were approved including a 20 MLD Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) for tannery cluster at Jajmau in Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

The BJP government in Gujarat is aiming to inaugurate the 18-metre tall 'Statue of Unity', dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, on October 31, the birth anniversary of India's first home minister. Megha Engineering commissions mega power transmission project 7.2.2018 General News
Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd (MEIL) today announced it has successfully commissioned India's largest power transmission project in western Uttar Pradesh. The plant would transmit 13,220 MVA of power, said the infrastructure major. Built as a build-own-operate-transfer project, it used the latest gas-insulated substation (GIS) technology for the first time in the country, MEIL Director B Srinivas Reddy said in a release here. "The transmission capacity of the Rs 4,150 crore Western Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Company Ltd project is equal to the combined transmission capacities of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and only behind Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. "This is the first such project in the private sector and used air-insulated substations and gas-insulated substations, the latest and proven technologies," Reddy said. Odisha plans 'water melas' in urban pockets 3.2.2018 General News
The Odisha government today decided to organise 'water melas' in all the urban local body (ULB) areas to spread awareness among the public on water purity. The government move has been prompted by reports of water-borne diseases like jaundice and diarrhoea coming in from different towns of the state. A direction for organising the 'water melas' was issued by Chief Secretary A P Padhi while presiding over a review meeting here. Asking the officials of the Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) department to ensure 100 per cent household connections, Padhi said the melas will be held in all the ULBs to create awareness among the people. H&UD secretary G Mathivathanan said that all the 113 ULBs have been asked to take up special water connection drive. "IWAI signed a project agreement with the World Bank today, even as the latter entered into a USD 375 million loan agreement with the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance for Jal Marg Vikas Project (JMVP)," Ministry of Shipping said in a statement.
