Rs 202 cr to clear dairy farmers' dues 23.8.2013
The State government has released Rs 202 crore for clearing dues pertaining to payment of incentives to dairy farmers in the State.

Payment of incentives to dairy farmers was pending since January, this year. The government had increased the incentive from Rs 2 to Rs 4 per litre of milk from May.

Steps will be taken to disburse the amount to the farmers immediately, KMF Managing
Director S A Premnath said.

Besides, the Primary and Secondary Education department has agreed to take up the responsibility of transporting milk powder to all schools and the KMF will bear its cost. The department transports ration to all schools under mid-day meal scheme.

Milk powder will be transported on the same lines, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Kimmane Ratnakara said.

'Convict injured self to seek publicity' 23.8.2013
Director General of Prisons Vishwanath on Thursday said a report will be submitted to the government in a couple to days with regards to the suicide attempt by Shivu Munishetty, a convict lodged at the Central Prisons at Hindalaga here.

Munishetty and Jade Rangashetty have been sentenced to death for the rape and murder of an 18-year-old girl in Chamarajanagar district in 2001. He attempted to cut his hand and private parts in a bid to commit suicide at the prison on Wednesday.

The incident took place on the day when the Supreme Court stayed the execution of the duo, following a petition by them after the President Pranab Mukherjee had rejected their mercy plea.

Speaking to reporters, Vishwanath said: "Munishetty did not attempt suicide. He did this only to seek publicity."

Jail medical officer Dr V M Yamakanamaradi said that Munishetty was recovering.

Bachchan threatens action over 'fake' video 23.8.2013
A furious Amitabh Bachchan has threatened legal action over a fake YouTube video that suggests he is backing Narendra Modi as the next prime minister.

Following Bachchan's strong protest online, a music composer from Rajkot has admitted to having uploaded it on YouTube and has apologised.

The 70-year-old veteran star, who is the brand ambassador of Gujarat Tourism, said the video was made by manipulating a voiceover that he did in 2007 for a 'Lead India' campaign.
Bachchan called the video "an illegal act, inviting strong action, one that I am appalled by, and one that has no concurrence from me at all."

Man accused of molesting daughter 23.8.2013
A homemaker has sought separation from her husband, accusing him of molesting their four-year-old daughter.

Jaya, the complainant, claimed that her husband, MAReji Abraham, began "molesting" their daughter when she was just one-and-a-half years old. He would lace some sedatives in a drink and offer it to the child and try to molest her, she alleged.

The woman said in a complaint to the police that Abraham molested the child for more than two-and-a-half-years. The victim would undergo medical examination on Friday.

"He would also torture me physically and mentally," she claimed. Married in 2008, Jaya and Abraham were staying at Victoria Layout, Austin Town. They applied for separation four months ago.

Abraham has been booked for outraging modesty of a woman under section 354 of the IPC. He reportedly owns some stores on Brigade Road. Jaya was his second wife. She married him after divorcing her first husband.

Pak panel to examine witnesses 23.8.2013
Pakistan has expressed readiness to send its judicial commission for a second time in September to examine the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks case witnesses to take forward the case which is in progress in Rawalpindi court.

Sources said the Union Home Ministry will soon approach the Bombay High Court for its permission to allow the Pakistan judicial commission to question four Indian witnesses-Metropolitan Magistrate Rama Vijay Sawant-Waghule, who recorded the confessional statement of Ajmal Kasab, Chief Investigating Officer Ramesh Mahale and two doctors from the state-run Nair and J-J Hospitals, who had conducted autopsies of nine terrorists who were killed in the attack.

Pakistan has suggested two dates, sources said.

Pakistan has charged seven terrorists, including Lashkar-e-Toiba commander Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi with financing and executing the attacks in November 2008 that killed 166 people.
