Anil Vij orders inquiry into irregularities in MGNREGS 14.4.2018 General News
Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij has ordered a vigilance inquiry into alleged irregularities in the implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in Kheri Lamba village in Kaithal district. Vij, who was presiding over a meeting of the District Grievance Redressal Committee in Kaithal today, ordered the inquiry after hearing complaints from villagers regarding fake job cards and other irregularities, according to an official release. A total of 12 complaints were taken up by the minister in the meeting. On other complaints, Vij ordered action against the sarpanch of Dherdu village for irregularities in various development works. A villager accused the sarpanch of embezzlement of funds sanctioned for construction of a cremation ground.

Centre releases Rs 2,062 Cr to Telangana under job guarantee 13.4.2018 General News
The Centre has released Rs 2,062 crore for Telangana under the MN-NREGS, the state government said here today. State Panchayat Raj Minister Jupally Krishna Rao has directed officials to speed up works under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme during the next three months, it said in a release. Rao had held several rounds of talks with the Centre for the release of funds, it added.

Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi today announced a special skill development programme for rural youth during the summer vacation. The Labour Department of the Territorial administration would conduct the skill development programme, she said during a meeting with residents of Chettipet village in Mannadipet Assembly constituency. She was in the constituency as part of her weekend visits. Bedi said the government had geared up its machinery to implement the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) to ensure infrastructure in rural areas. In a press release, she said the District Rural Development Agency has been providing subsidy to houses without toilets. Chettipet will emerge as an open defecation-free village in June this year and the administration has expedited the sanction of subsidy for construction of toilets in houses lacking the facility, the release said.

Over 36 per cent of the 4,14,551 works under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) are incomplete in Assam since 2006-07 when the scheme was launched, the Assembly was informed today. Replying to a query by AGP MLA Phani Bhusan Choudhury, Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Naba Kumar Doley said a total of 4,14,551 works have been initiated till now from the commencement of the Act in the state. "Out of that, 2,64,976 works have been completed and 1,49,575 are yet to complete. Works in 4,497 incomplete jobs under MGNREGA remained stopped," Doley said. The minister also informed the House that Rs 76.67 crore to be given to the villagers as wages was due from the central government. "As soon as the Centre releases the amount for wages, it will be directly deposited to the accounts of the labourers," he added. Doley said the Centre has till now released Rs 9,264.97 crore since launch of the MGNREGA in the state, out of which Rs 9,195.15 crore
