The original target of the fidayeen attack at 182 battalion headquarters of Border Security Force (BSF) on Tuesday morning was the Srinagar airport for which a member of Jaish-e-Mohammad’s Afzal Guru Squad had even conducted a reconnaissance of the area, top intelligence sources told TOI.
The killing of senior Hizbul Mujahideen leader Qayoom Najar in Jammu & Kashmir last week followed a specific tip-off from PoK-based terrorists of the same outfit. The information regarding Najar’s plans to return to Kashmir from Pak occupied Kashmir, including the exact route he would take through the mountainous terrain, was leaked to J&K police a few days before the forces intercepted him at the LoC and shot him dead.
Terrorists barged into the home of a Border Security Force jawan Rameez Ahmad Parray and killed him in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district on Wednesday evening. Three family members of the 33-year-old martytred jawan were also injured in the attack, according to J&K police.
The Enforcement Directorate has accused Kashmiri separatist Shabir Shah of having been in touch with Pakistan-based terrorist Hafiz Saeed in a chargesheet filed against him in connection with a 2005 money laundering case for alleged terror financing.
