Over Rs four lakh seized in Ampati 7.5.2018 General News
More than Rs four lakh were seized from a vehicle in Ampati Assembly constituency where model code of conduct is in force for the May-28 bypoll, the police said. A sum of Rs 4,29,800 was seized from a person in the vehicle near Garobadha village by a team comprising election officials, static surveillance teams, police and a magistrate on Saturday, they said. The person, a village employment council secretary, claimed that he was carrying the money for distribution under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. Income Tax officials will question the person carrying the cash to ascertain from where he got the cash, officials said. Election Code of Conduct mandates that cash above Rs 50,000 cannot be carried at one time. The by-election to Ampati seat has been necessitated after former chief minister, Mukul Sangma, gave up the seat, having won both from Ampati and Songsak in the Assembly polls.

Considering the importance of Water Conservation especially during April to June period of peak demand for work in rural areas, the Government of India has released adequate funds for large scale thrust on completing 43.62 lakh Natural Resource Management works which are under implementation. It has also urged the States to accord maximum priority to Water Conservation works during the first quarter of 2018-19 including River Rejuvenation. Successes in River Rejuvenation have encouraged MGNREGS to undertake similar works in other States as well. Prioritise water conservation works: Centre to states 27.4.2018 General News
The Centre has asked states to give priority to water conservation works being done under the rural employment guarantee scheme MGNREGS to ensure water availability during the ongoing peak summer season. Considering the importance of water conservation in April-June period, the Centre has released adequate funds for large-scale thrust on completing the ongoing 43.62 lakh natural resource management works, Rural Development Ministry said in an official statement. The demand for works under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) remains high in the first three months of a financial year -- starting from April. When contacted, Joint Secretary in the ministry, Aparajita Sarangi said the Centre has already released about Rs 23,147 crore (about 40 per cent of the total allocation for the 2018-19 financial year) to states to ensure smooth flow of the works under MGNREGS.
