Dakshina KannadaZilla Panchayat on Wednesday launched mapping of public assets in Mangaluru taluk on a pilot basis - another first to its credit. A joint initiative of the ZP, with the IndianSpace Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Alva's Institute of Engineering and Technology here, it is expected to be completed within a month's time. The project is aimed at documenting the public assets in 56 gram panchayat limits in Mangaluru taluk with the help of a dedicated Bhuvan Panchayat Asset Mapping App, developed by the centre and already in use for Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), among other projects.
