The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to hear former television anchor Suhaib Ilyasi's appeal in connection with his wife's murder.Furthermore, the top court, who had earlier sentenced him to life imprisonment, directed him to approach the Delhi High Court.Ilyasi, who shot to fame with the TV show 'India's Most Wanted' in the late 90s, was sentenced to life imprisonment by a Delhi sessions court for killing his wife in 2000.The court also ordered him to pay Rs. 10 Lakh as compensation to the victim's family and Rs. 2 Lakh as fine.However, he had moved the Supreme Court seeking suspension of his jail sentence in this case.Ilyasi was convicted by the court on December 16, and an order was passed by additional sessions judge, SK Malhotra, who found Ilyasi guilty under the Indian Penal Code.Ilyasi's wife Anju was murdered in 2000 in Delhi, after which the police arrested him on the basis of an inquest report by the area magistrate. A 26-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly choking his wife to death in Bisrakh area of Greater Noida as he suspected his wife of having an extramarital affair. Rajasthan: Mother, son and daughter found dead in well 24.5.2018 General News
A 26-year-old woman was found dead in a well along with her son and daughter in Rajasthan's Sikar district, police said today. The bodies of Maya Jogi, her son Om Prakash (5) and daughter Ankita (3) were yesterday recovered from a well in Paldi village under the Balara police station area, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Lakshmangarh) Brajmohan Aswal said. Aswal said brother of the deceased woman has lodged a complaint against her in-laws alleging murder over dowry dispute. A case has been registered and the matter is being investigated, the officer said, adding that the bodies have been handed over to the family members after post-mortem.

A fast track court here sentenced a man to ten years imprisonment for killing his wife in 2006 over dowry dispute. Judge Balraj Singh also imposed a fine of Rs 3,000 on the accused Charan Singh after holding him guilty under Section 304-B (dowry death) of the IPC yesterday. According to prosecution, the accused allegedly pushed his wife off the roof of their house, resulting in her death on November 24, 2006.

TURA, May 23: The death of a young woman allegedly through hanging in the village of Magumari, Haripur under West Garo Hills (WGH) district, has raised a huge cry in the plain belt after the father of the victim filed a FIR at Tura Women’s Police Station on allegations of torture for dowry by her in laws.
The victim had married one Zolbahar Sk on August 27, 2017 and was allegedly being harassed and tortured for dowry by the entire family who were also named in the FIR filed on May 16.
