Hyderabad: India"s first Unmanned Arial Vehicle (UAV) hackathon - Hackadrone 2018 - will be held in Hyderabad in February next. The programme will be organised by Cyient Ltd and DJI in sponsorship with government of Telangana and Microsoft.  The event, to be held between February 5 and 9, will witness participation from people across India who aspire to develop innovative commercial and industrial solutions using the latest drone technology. It is open to developers, start-ups, college students and independent software programmers from across the country. The participants will compete to develop original software applications on drone platform for utilities, telecommunications, energy and natural resources, smart cities, navigation, security, transportation and agriculture.  The winner at the hackathon will get cash awards, while there will be a special recognition for any all-women team. Chandigarh, December 15

MP Kirron Kher laid the foundation stones of an open air theatre and a green park in Sector 48 here today.

The projects would cost Rs 481.05 lakh and will be carried out under the AMRUT scheme.

Local councillor Davesh Moudgil said the green park coming up on 7.34 acres would have 1.76 km footpath and 1,596 sq metre parking area for about 70 cars. He said the green park would be the best in the city. The open air theatre would have a seating capacity of 1,000, which was the highest for any such facility in the city, he added.

Earlier, Kher said the open air theatre would help local artistes showcase their talent and brush up their acting skills. Mayor Asha Kumari Jaswal said the MCwas developing green parks better than the earlier ones. She requested area residents to keep the parks clean as it was their own property. —TNS

Tribune News Service Bathinda, December 13 A park meant for children at the Advanced Cancer Institute to provide a peaceful and happy environment to visitors to the hospital has been crying for attention since its inception. During a recent visit to the hospital, it has come to light that there are no footpaths, benches, floodlights and swings for children. Even no potable water booth has been installed here for visitors. The Central Government had created this park under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme with the purpose of providing relief to patients and their relatives coming to the institute.
