Uncertainties facing the information technology industry have settled down to some extent and their level is now better understood, NASSCOM President R Chandrashekhar said today. He said there has been a lot of turbulence in the industry last year following heightened uncertainties. "But to some extent now, they (uncertainties) have settled down; not that uncertainty has disappeared but the level of the uncertainty now is far better understood," Chandrashekhar told reporters here. He also said NASSCOM has shared its budget expectations with the Finance Ministry and they centred around the ease of doing business and not about sops. "Basically, it's centred around the ease of doing business, challenges with regard to GST, some of the issues regarding taxation and environment for the start-up eco system, including angel tax issues. But essentially about streamlining the business environment; it's not about sops," Chandrashekhar said. He said Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a big area now, because ...

We are definitely going on floors in September."   The director said he has been working on the film since 2015 and will not rush it. "I have already given two-and-a-half years of my life. I am used to this pace (of working). There is a lot of preparation required for this film. We are at it," he said. Currently, Gupte is awaiting the TV premiere of his last release, Sniff. The film will be airing on &Pictures on January 14 and he is glad the film is getting a wider platform. "Few minds in this nation respect children's content. I have seen some ...

Working to ensure 'leading power' India's membership in NSG: US envoy 11.1.2018
New Delhi: The United States sees India as a "leading power" in the Indo-Pacific region, Washington's envoy to New Delhi Kenneth Juster said on Thursday, describing the country as a potential regional trade hub for American businesses. In his first policy speech since taking over as ambassador, Juster laid out the Trump administration's agenda for India and emphasised that the US will not tolerate "cross-border terrorism" or terror safe havens. However, Juster made no reference to Pakistan in his speech. The US recently suspended military aid to Islamabad, accusing it of "lies and deceit". Juster acknowledged that the US and India initially had "strained" exchanges on topics related to the transfer of sensitive US technology with both military and conventional applications. "Now, India is celebrating its membership in two of the four multilateral export control regimes -- the Wassenaar Arrangement on dual-use items, which India just joined, and the ...
