15 TSRTC employees taken into custody for protesting in Hyderabad: Police 16.11.2019
Hyderabad: Nearly 15 Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) employees were taken into custody by Falaknuma Police on Saturday when they were protesting in front of Farooq Nagar bus depot here. The RTC Joint Action Committee (JAC) has called for a 'Bus roko' protest in Telangana on Saturday. Police personnel have been deployed in large numbers in places near bus depots. Section 144 has been imposed in the state. Striking employees of TSRTC have decided to temporarily drop their main demand for the Corporation's merger with the government. The JAC took the decision to keep aside the demand as the government showed no signs of softening its stand on the 41st day of the protest on November 14. The employees have now asked the government to fulfil their other demands. The employees have been on a strike since October 5 with several demands including revision of pay. At least five RTC employees have committed suicide since the commencement of the strike.   Catch the latest news, ...

St Mark's square in Venice closed after floods 16.11.2019
Another exceptional high tide swamped flood-hit Venice on Friday, prompting the mayor to order St Mark's square closed after Italy declared a state of emergency for the UNESCO city. Mayor Luigi Brugnaro moved to shut the iconic square as the latest sea surge struck with strong storms and winds battering the region. It reached a high of 1.54 metres (five feet) just before midday, lower than Tuesday's peak but still dangerous. "I'm forced to close the square to avoid health risks for citizens... a disaster," Brugnaro said. In the afternoon the square reopened as water levels receded and forecasts anticipated lower levels in coming days. Churches, shops and homes in the city of canals have been inundated by unusually intense "acqua alta", or high water, which on Tuesday hit their highest level in half a century. "We've destroyed Venice, we're talking about one billion (euros) in damage and that's just from the other day, not today," Brugnaro said, as ...

He was answering a question on the YSRCP government"s recent decision to convert all government schools into English medium schools. "Do you know what Jagan Mohan Reddy had studied? They say that he studied some B.A or B.Com. Do you know whether he passed or not? He was caught in 10th class paper leak. Such people are preaching today," said Nara Lokesh. "We had already told that there should be English medium education but the option should be given to parents to decide in which medium their ward will study," he said.
