MCC gets Rs 593 cr for water, UGD works 15.2.2018 Deccan Herald - District
A sum of Rs 218.50 crore and Rs 195 crore will be utilised towards improving water supply and underground drainage system. The works will be conducted with assistance from ADB, Government grant and MCC funds. This apart, a fund of Rs 179.52 will be used for the above mentioned works. Chairing a meeting meant for general public and MCC members on ADB assisted Jalasiri and UGD works at Mangala Auditorium in Mangaluru City Corporation on Thursday, Mayor Kavita Sanil said that the share for water supply, the government grant, ADB loan and urban local body will be 40%, 50% and 10% respectively. Assam keen to start flights to ASEAN countries: Sonowal 4.2.2018 General News
Assam is in discussion with the Centre to start flight services to ASEAN countries, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said today. "We are keen to start flights to ASEAN countries and we also request these countries to do the same to the region," Sonowal said at a plenary session on North East India and ties with ASEAN and BBN countries, at the Global Investors Summit here. "There is scepticism from some quarters that it will not be viable in the short-run, but we are sure it will be in the long-run and transform the economy of the region," he said. He also urged ASEAN countries to set up consulates in Guwahati, which besides boosting economic ties, will also help in promoting cultural relations. The Centre was exploring possibilities of initiating work on the ASEAN Trilateral Motor Work, which will transform the economic scenario of the region, the CM said. West Bengal needs early stage investors and accelerators to provide a big fillip to the start-up culture in the state, according to experts and leading venture capitalists. They feel the start-up eco-system in West Bengal was yet to gather steam when compared to other cities like Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai and others. In a seminar organised by Brandshoots Ventures here today, Ajay Lakhotia, partner of Fosun Capital, said although there were angel investors here, the state lacked end-to-end start-up eco-system. Fosun Capital has a fund of USD 850 million India Fund dedicated to start-ups. Girish Shivani, executive director and fund manager of Your Nest, said that the start-up culture has not been developed in the state so far.
