The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Gujarat on Wednesday sent out an open invitation to leaders of Patidaar quota stir in the state for a meeting next week. According to the official communique of the government, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel has invited pro-quota Patel leaders for talks on September 26. The move by state government comes in the wake of Assembly polls in the state and after Patels held a successful three-day vehicle rally from Ahmedabad to Somnath last week. The past experience of talks between the BJP government and Patels have not yielded any amicable solution to this vexed issue as yet. The Patels, who form 12% of state's population, have been demanding quotas to government jobs and educational institutions under the OBC category for last two years led by Hardik Patel.
