Legendary wicket-keeper Syed Kirmani slams critics questioning MS Dhoni's technique 19.2.2018 DNA: Mumbai
Former India wicket-keeper Syed Kirmani has lauded the manner in which the national cricket team has bounced back after losing the Test series in South Africa, saying the Virat Kohli-led side showcased its real potential and talent in the ODI series triumph. "Before they (the team) could get acclimatised to the conditions in South Africa, they lost the Test series. They however, bounced back well and showed their capabilities in the ODIs and won it," he said from Bengaluru. "It was a great comeback by the team to show their real potential and talent and win the one-day series," he said. After losing the Test series 2-1, India bounced back strongly to claim the six-match ODI series 5-1. Kirmani also said it was unfair to criticise Mahendra Singh Dhoni on various counts, including his keeping technique, adding he had produced results, which was more important.   "It is all about results. Those who are criticising Dhoni about his keeping and batting are not aware that he has produced results everywhere. ...

The members of All Gujarat Parents Association and Shiksha Raksha Maha Abhiyaan on Thursday put across a demand to the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) secretary to remove Class 12 board. In an attempt to have less pressure on children, the parents association members are demanding removal of Class 12 board exams. Naresh Shah, president, All Gujarat Parents Association said, "Many states have done away with Class 12 board as it puts unnecessary pressure on the students. As it is, after Class 12, students appear for the competitive exams like JEE and NEET that do not require board exam scores. Hence, the burden should be removed. On Thursday, we met AJ Shah, chairman, GSHSEB and explained him our demands. Removal of Class 12 board exam will also ensure the state government saving up to 500 to 600 crores which is spent on the staff and conducting the examination. We have suggested that Class 12 should have regular exams instead of boards. Many times, schools also threaten ...

IndvsSA: It's history and the guys have worked hard for it: Kohli after ending 26-year jinx 14.2.2018 DNA: Top News
Indian team led by an inspirational Virat Kohli today scripted history by winning its first ever series across formats on the South African soil as they crushed South Africa by 73 runs thereby taking an unassailable 4-1 lead in the five-match ODI series. No Indian men's side since its first tour in South Africa back in 1992, has ever won a series across any format. They did win a one-off T20 match in 2006 -- their first ever shortest format but it was a single match event. The team under Kohli achieved which neither among Mohammed Azharuddin, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid or Mahendra Singh Dhioni could ever accomplish -- win a full fledged series in the Rainbow Nation. "Only one team had the pressure of losing this series and we knew that. It's history and the guys have worked hard for it. Every since the third Test in Johannesburg it's been a good time for us. It's been a collective effort to create history," an ecstatic Kohli said after the match. "When three guys at the top are being ...

SAvIND, 5th ODI: Despite Rohit Sharma's ton, visitors lose momentum to end at 274/7 13.2.2018 DNA: Mumbai
India got to 274/7 on the back of a Rohit Sharma century in the fifth ODI against South Africa on Tuesday. Put in to bat, openers Rohit and Shikhar Dhawan gave India a flying start at the St. Georges Park in Port Elizabeth. Dhawan, however, fell after a quickfire 34 to Kagiso Rabada. Rohit then stitched what looked like an ominous partnership with skipper Virat Kohli. But just as the duo looked set to march India to a score near 350, Virat was run-out after yet another mix-up with Rohit.   Ajinkya Rahane, batting at No.4, was run-out too. Complete miscommunication between the Mumbaikars on that occasion. From a position of strength, the Men In Blue found themselves in a spot of bother within a few overs. Rohit, though, kept calm and went on t bring up his 17th ODI hundred.  The right-hander brought up his milestone off the 107th delivery he faced. He'd smashed 10 fours and four trademark maximums at that point. This was a much-needed knock for Rohit. The Mumbaikar has had a horror tour so far, failing in ...
