A month after a gang stole 16 antique 'Pashmina' shawls worth over Rs 2 crore from the National Crafts Museum, the Delhi Police nabbed the accused on Thursday. The two accused, Vinay Parmar, 28, and Tarun Harvodia, 25, both school dropouts, had been visiting the museum for the past few months, posing as researchers from Kolkata. The incident also revealed that the museum does not have functional CCTV cameras. Police said that duo confessed that they were inspired from the film Dhoom 2, wherein the theft of antique items from a museum was shown. On October 31, the PCR had received a call regarding the theft and D Rama Krishna Rao, administration and security officer of the museum, registered a complaint that on October 31 at around 9.30 am, 16 shawls were missing from display boards. A Delhi court has directed the Tihar jail authorities to take appropriate action on a plea that alleged violence against some suspected ISIS operatives and other inmates in the high security cell of the prison.
