Senior advocate Arvind Datar submitted that unless the court intervened, if the government invalidated the Permanent Account Number (PAN) card if it was not linked to the Aadhaar card, then an individual would be crippled. Senior advocates Datar and Shyam Diwan were arguing in connection to petitions filed in the Supreme Court challenging the Aadhaar Act.  While Datar restricted his arguments on the merits of the law, Diwan took the opportunity to highlight how dangerous it would be to allow private entities -- who have been contracted by the government to make Aadhaar cards, access to your most important and personal details of your life.  “Invalidating PAN without Aadhaar is draconian and an individual will suffer a virtual civil death,” Datar submitted before a bench comprising of Justices AK Sikri and Ashok Bhushan.  Datar spoke on four important points during his more than two-hour-long submission. You may soon be using just your mobile phone and Aadhaar for air travel, minus all the paper work, as the government is looking to roll out a digital system for airport entry and subsequent journey requirements. Under the proposed "Digi Yatra" initiative, the Ministry of Civil Aviation is looking to make "boarding pass and security interactions" digital. Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha on Friday said the ministry is working on the initiative. "Your payment is digital, your boarding and security interactions are digital... That is the Digi Yatra concept we are working on," Sinha said. Under the initiative, the flyer will be securely identified through Aadhaar number, passport or other documents. "We have established a working group and we are very hopeful of rolling out some of these initiatives in the next few months," the minister said. The online lottery process for 1.29 lakh seats under the Right to Education (RTE) Act was conducted in the city on Friday. The state government has added a substantial number of seats under the RTE quota this time compared to 1.07 lakh last year. Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Tanveer Sait told reporters on Friday that in all, 2,10,661 applications were received this academic year. Of these, 2.2 lakh applications have been considered for the lottery process. While the first list will include schools in the child's neighbourhood, the second list will consist of schools that are not in the vicinity. For the first time, the government has made LKG and Class 1 the entry level following approval from the high court.
