In TMC meet, Mamata calls BJP 'militant' organisation, takes veiled jibe at Dilip Ghosh 21.6.2018 DNA: Opinion
In TMC's extended core committee meeting, party chief and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee lashed out at BJP and warned party members against infighting and complacency ahead of next year's Lok Sabha election.  West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday called the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) a militant organisation. They are creating fights not only among Christians, Muslims but also among Hindus," the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo said.Mamata's statement comes at a time tensions between the two parties are escalating in the state. Without naming Dilip Ghosh, Mamata Banerjee slammed him. She said, " Someone is calling for encounter. Someone wants to shoot, others want to kill, there are few who are looking to hurl bombs." Panchayat poll fiasco: Congress turncoats blame Khodaji Thakore's fowl-play 21.6.2018 DNA: Popular News
Congress turncoats in Ahmedabad District Panchayat helped BJP come to power in the civic body elections for the post of president and vice-president, which was held on Tuesday. Six Congress dissidents voted against the party. All these six blamed party district presidents and Radhanpur Congress MLA Alpesh Thakor's father Khodaji Thakor for this. Congress has 18 elected members, while BJP has only 13, out of a total 33 in the Ahmedabad district Panchayat. A tug of war between the two factions in Congress became apparent and the split widened during this election. Congress could hardly manage to appoint a member for the position of president and vice-president after the last elections. Ahmedabad Congress president Khodaji gave the mandate to the members of his choice, which was opposed by the six other members. The party had taken all the 18 members to a resort in Udaipur to prevent them from defecting. They were brought back on Monday. The six dissident members, however, went against the party mandate ...

Gujarat BJP wrests five district panchayats from Congress, controls 13 out of 33 21.6.2018 DNA: Top News
The BJP on Tuesday wrested five district panchayat bodies from the Congress after the elections for the posts of president and vice president. Several members of the Congress turned against the party and voted for the rivals helping the BJP candidates win the posts. These district panchayat bodies include Ahmedabad, Patan, Dahod, Mahisagar and Bhavnagar. With this, the BJP now controls 13 out of 33 district panchayats in Gujarat. The party was in power in eight bodies before these elections. The BJP had won in only five district panchayats out of the 31 bodies that went to polls in December 2015. Anandiben Patel who was the chief minister at that point bore the brunt of the huge loss and had to step down from her post in less than a year after the polls. However, the party later managed to appoint its elected members to the posts of president and vice president in three more district panchayat bodies by joining hands with independent members and defecting Congress members. The election process for the ...
