Bengal Congress willing to join hands with CPI(M) against TMC and BJP 24.6.2018 DNA: Popular News
In a report sent to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) leadership, West Bengal Congress Committee (WBPCC) general secretary and party spokesperson Om Prakash Mishra had suggested that the Congress should join hands with the CPI(M) in West Bengal and maintain distance with the 'unholy nexus' of Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In the nine-page report, Mishra said that in order to reclaim democracy as well as ensure defeat of BJP and TMC, the tie-up was imperative. "I have not talked about any political alliance. In fact I have said that to strengthen democracy and to oust the present disposition, Congress, Left political parties and civil societies must be brought together at a common platform in order to enlighten the citizens of West Bengal and a victory of a non-BJP, non-TMC force at the parliament, ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha election and 2021 Assembly polls in West Bengal," he said, talking to DNA. In the report he explained the situation in the country vis-à-vis ...

More lessons on institution building for sustainable & empathetic outcomes 18.6.2018 DNA: Wide Angle
Last week, I mentioned some of the lessons of institution building. I wish to take this discussion forward here because there is a crisis in many institutions of excellence in public, private and civil society sector. One of the major questions the students of institution building ask is about the progressive dilution of values with which institutions often start. The answer is not far to seek. If the institutions depend upon individual charisma of the leader, then decline is inevitable. The only way one can avoid it is by embedding these values in a distributed manner and among agile processes and systems. New people are inducted from time to time but if they are inducted properly into the deeper inviolable values, the institution becomes just an organization. The cold-blooded murder of senior journalist Shujaat Bukhari and Rashtriya Rifles soldier Aurangzeb was the last straw that prompted the Centre to revoke unilateral suspension of operations against terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. Other than the twin killings, the Centre was getting increasingly restive as all its efforts to reach out to the separatists through civil society had failed during the month of Ramzan. Despite arriving at the decision, the Centre, however, decided to break the news later to not to dampen the spirit of Eid celebrations. Rajnath Singh tried the last ditch effort to rope in the separatists into talks during his visit to the Valley on June 7 and 8, but ...
