Governor's sanction sought to prosecute minister Ambareesh over medical bills 20.12.2014 deccanherald.com
A Shivamogga-based advocate has filed an application seeking Governor's sanction for prosecution against Housing Minister M H Ambareesh for using taxpayers money to reimburse his medical and travel expenses during his recent treatment in Singapore. The applicant, Vinod B, claimed that the State government had paid up to Rs 1.16 crore towards the medical expenditure of the minister in violation of the Karnataka Ministers' Medical Attendance Rules. Vinod said the application was sent by post under section 19 (1) of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, in his order dated Feb 28, 2014, the day Ambareesh was to be airlifted to Singapore for further medical treatment, stated the government was ready to foot the entire medical expenses of the minister, besides the airfare for his wife, three doctors and his personal secretary, the applicant stated. "Exercising the powers under rule 10 of the Medical Attendance Rules, and relaxation of rule 7 considering it as a special case, the ...

BJP demand on 'tainted' trio hits House biz 20.12.2014 deccanherald.com
The opposition BJP on Friday persisted with its demand for the resignation of three ministers who are being investigated by the Lokayukta for alleged wrongdoing. The BJP's rigid stand that the ministers—Dinesh Gundu Rao, Qamarul Islam and H S Mahadev Prasad—should not continue in office paralysed the official business of the legislature, forcing the chairs to adjourn the Houses until Saturday. While the BJP staged a dharna, the JD(S) kept off the issue. The BJP vehemently argued that since the ministers were occupying positions in the government, there were likely to "influence" the Lokayukta investigation against them. While Chief Minister Siddaramaiah unsuccessfully tried to make a statement in the Council, Rao dared the BJP leader K S Eshwarappa to show guts for the discussion as he also faced chares of corruption. No minister in the erstwhile BJP government had resigned though FIRs were filed against them, he said. In the Legislative Assembly, Leader of Opposition Jagadish Shettar argued ...

Chitradurga:The Hutti Gold Mines Limited will soon start mining gold ore on 100 acres of land at Ajjanahalli of Sira taluk in Tumakuru district. Speaking to reporters here on Friday, Rani Satish, Chairperson of Hutti Gold Mines, said that the company was also planning to set up an ore processing unit at Ajjanahalli. "Earlier, it was planned to transport the gold ore from Ajjanahalli to Ingaladal in Chitradurga district for processing. But, this would entail huge expenditure on transportation and also give scope for corruption. Hence it is being contemplated to set up the processing plant at Ajjanahalli," she said. Final decision will be taken at the board meeting of the company scheduled for December 27. Rani said that the ore waste dumped in the vicinity of Ingaladal copper mines could be used in making cement hollow bricks or mixed with asphalt used for tarring roads. Earlier, it was proposed to use the waste as fertiliser for agricultural activities. However, agricultural scientists confirmed the ...
