Irrigation scam: Now, ACB scanner on Ajit Pawar, Sunil Tatkare 4.3.2015 Asian Age: Mumbai
After Chhagan Bhujbal, the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) has turned its focus on former deputy chief minister and senior Nationalist Congress Party leaders Ajit Pawar and Sunil Tatkare to investigate the alleged Rs 70,000-crore irrigation scam. Water resources minister Girish Mahajan said that no one involved in the scam would be spared. After CM Devendra Fadnavis’ nod to the ACB to open inquiry against Chhagan Bhujbal in the Maharashtra Sadan scam last week, the ACB called Pankaj and Sameer Bhujbal, the son and nephew of Chhagan Bhujbal for inquiry. Mr Mahajan, who had assured in pubic rallies that he would inquire into the irrigation scam after taking charge as water resources minister, had not yet taken an initiative in the direction so far. However, he rejected the reports and said that nobody involved would be spared. “Everybody who was involved in the irrigation scam will have to face inquiry including Ajit Pawar and Sunil Tatkare,” Mr Mahajan said. “The ACB has already been instructed and we have ...

Government to revamp, restart anti-graft helpline 4.3.2015 Asian Age: Delhi
The Delhi government has decided to revamp and restart its anti-graft helpline number that was launched during the AAP’s 49-day rule last year to help the common man lodge complaints if they are harassed for bribes. The phone line, with enhanced backhand support, is to be made operational in the next 15 days. Noting that the helpline number had brought confidence among the people to combat corruption, Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia said that the helpline number will guide and assist the complainants on how to catch bribe takers red-handed. The decision to restart the anti-graft helpline was taken by the Cabinet on Tuesday. “The anti-graft helpline experiment was successful one last time, but this time around we are better prepared (to handle it),” he said. During its 49-day stint, the AAP had in January 2014 announced anti-corruption helpline — 011-2735 7169 — and hours after its launch, thousands of complaints relating to corruption flooded this helpline which reportedly crashed the system. Mr ...
